Lakeview Behavior Matrix and Character Safari
At the beginning of each school year, we spend time teaching students our building expectations for behaviors. Students learn appropriate and safe behaviors for all areas and settings of our school. We utilize these “universal expectations” to help promote good choices and positive behavior in our building. Our expectations focus on Lakeview students being respectful, responsible, and safe.
For your reference, we have attached our behavior expectations matrix. Please review the matrix with your child and encourage him or her to show these characteristics both inside and outside of LVE.
Lakeview's House System
We are so excited to announce that we are continuing to implement the “House System” at Lakeview Elementary. Every student and staff member is taking part to create a strong community of learners. Through this initiative, each student has been sorted into a house (Altruismo, Amistad, Isibindi, and Reveur). These houses have students of all grade levels in them, as well as a variety of staff members. Students and staff will work together throughout the year to build strong bonds and relationships that will allow them to feel more connected to our school. Our goal is for students to feel as if they truly know all the staff and students in our school and to unite us all as one.
On August 26, all new LVE students (including all new kindergarteners) participated in a reveal in which they were selected/placed into one of our four houses. Each house represents a specific character trait. Houses will meet throughout the year to participate in team bonding activities, work on character trait development, and complete special projects together.
Students will also be earning points for their houses. Points are a way that we will be reinforcing the positive behavior that our students show. There will even be a friendly house competition between all four houses to see who will be our “House Champion” for the school year. Last year, Amistad was crowned the new "House Champion" for the 2021-2022 school year.
We encourage you to participate in this experience as well. Ask your child about his/her house. Our school community is not just the students and staff, but you, the parents and guardians, as well! We look forward to working together with you to grow our community.
Every Wednesday is "Wear It Wednesday," where staff and students can wear house colors and t-shirts. Each student who wears their colors earns 1 point for their house. These will start next Wednesday, September 7.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
This is an important reminder of the drop-off and pick-up procedures that we will enforce for the safety and efficiency of the students and parents at Lakeview Elementary.
- Staff supervision and student drop-off begin at 8:45 a.m. If you arrive early, please wait with your child(ren) until 8:45 a.m., in your car in the car rider line, to assure that they are supervised.
- Parents should not drop students off in the parking lot in order to avoid the drop-off line. This can create a serious safety hazard, as cars entering/exiting likely are not expecting to see children walking or running in areas of the lot other than in the drop-off zone.
***IMPORTANT *** Due to student safety, students who walk home from school will not be able to meet their parents at the front of the building. Parents will need to meet their children at the Fox Ridge sidewalk or the playground (West Wind). If you are picking up your child by car, then you need to utilize the parent pick up line.
Walkers/Bike-riders- Walkers/Bike-riders are defined as students who walk/ride home on their own without a parent/guardian. The parking lot is not a designated crosswalk and is extremely dangerous for students to walk through unattended. Please do not bypass the carline for convenience and put your child and others in danger.
Car Riders- Car Riders are defined as students who will have parents/guardians who will utilize our car rider line to drive through and pick their child up. This is the most efficient way if a parent is coming to pick their child up. The line might look long but it moves quickly.
- All cars will enter at the west entrance of the building near the school's marquee. Cars will line up and follow the directions of the staff members facilitating the car rider pick-up.
- When prompted, parents will "scan" the QR code listed on their Parent Pickup tag and sign in. Please wait until prompted to scan/enter your information. Please include the names of all children you are picking up and grades.
- Cars will pull in front of the building
- Students must enter/exit curb-side for safety.
- Cars will then promptly exit the parking lot at the same entrance/exit of the building. Cars are not allowed to cut through the parking lot and access the east entrance to leave.
A smooth and efficient procedure takes all of us to work together. We appreciate your willingness and expect all parents to follow the outlined procedures.
Reporting an Absence
Late Arrivals
Dismissal Changes
Beginning of the Year Assessing Parent Notification
At the beginning of each school year, teachers and reading interventionists administer district assessments to our students. These assessments are used to guide our instruction and to determine when extra reading support is needed. As all teachers work to complete these assessments, please know some students may also be pulled by the building reading interventionists to provide additional small group reading support through the end of September. This does not mean they will be in reading intervention for the year. If your child is offered a spot in the reading intervention program, your child’s teacher will make you aware of this opportunity with a personal phone call or email.
Responsible Usage Policy (RUP)
Please note that the Responsible Use Policy (RUP) must be signed before your child(ren) can log into district technology resources. At this time, any students whose families have not completed the RUP E-Form do not have technology access. The RUP can be signed online through the Tyler SISK12 Student360 website. If you have not completed the E-Form, you must do so ASAP so your child can access WSD technology.
The Tyler SISK12 Student360 website can be accessed from the homepage on the district website.
Please be advised that district technology is only to be used for educational purposes and at the direction of WSD staff. Violations of this policy can result in technology suspensions and/or disciplinary consequences.
Updated Proof of Residency Requirements
Starting with the 2021-2022 school year, our buildings will ask every current family to provide updated proof of residency to the school that serves the oldest child in the family. The documents will be collected August 1 through October 31. A list of the approved documents is provided below. Please contact your school's secretary or registrar for further information. New enrollments will be required to provide full proof of residency documentation.
Homeowners:
Provide current utility bill (water, sewer, electric, gas) within the last 30 days with matching mailing address and service address.
Leases:
Provide current lease with all occupant names and utility bill (water, sewer, electric, gas) within the last 30 days. Utility bill mailing address and service address must match. If a lease transitions to month-to-month then provide the updated addendum. If it is a mobile home trailer and pad, then the lease for both should match. Leases should include all pages of the lease.
Residing with Someone Else:
Owner/Lessee should provide a lease, ALTA Settlement Statement, or Real Estate Tax Statement. Owner/Lessee should also provide a utility bill, valid photo ID, and notarized letter.
Parent/Guardian residing with someone else should provide a photo ID and Affidavit of Residency Form. Parent/Guardian residing with someone else should also provide official mail from a federal/state agency, current bank statement/loan statement, or utility bill.
