TIGER TIDBITS: OFFICIAL ATTENDANCE-TAKING TIMES
We know that students learn best when they are present and engaged, and that’s why school attendance is so important. Official district attendance-taking times vary by campus level. For your student(s) to be counted present for the day they must be present at the following times:
Elementary Students - 8:45 a.m.
Middle School Students - 9:45 a.m.
High School Students - 1:24 p.m.
If possible, please avoid doctor or personal appointments during attendance-taking times. Our secondary campuses also take attendance during each class period; however, the times listed above are the official times for the district's submissions to TEA. You can read more about our Attendance Policies in the DSISD Student Handbook.

The fall sports season for Dripping Springs High School is underway as the Tigers begin competition in class 6A for the first time in school history.
Tiger volleyball is off to an impressive 22-9 start with a 2-0 record in District 26-6A competition with wins over Del Valle and Buda Johnson. On August 18, coach Michael Kane became the winningest coach in DSHS history with his 442nd victory, surpassing former boys’ basketball coach Poe Shelton. The Tigers are ranked 14th in the state in the latest Texas Volleyball Insiders poll, and will face Anderson on Friday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in Austin.
The Tiger football team opened the 2022 season in thrilling fashion last Friday as Walker Wright connected on a last-second 42-yard field goal to lift Dripping Springs to a 23-20 victory over 14th-ranked Austin Vandegrift. The Tigers, ranked 19th in this week’s Texas Football 6A rankings, will host San Antonio Wagner on Friday, Sept. 2, at 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. Prior to the game, senior football players and cheerleaders will be recognized.
The DSHS cross country teams began their season on Saturday hosting the Dripping Springs 4K Invitational. The junior varsity girls captured the team title while the varsity girls placed second behind Fredericksburg. On the boys side, varsity finished in fourth and JV took sixth place. The Tigers will race in the Austin ISD Invitational on Friday, Sept. 2, at Walter E. Long Park.
Despite a few rainouts, DSHS team tennis is 2-0 on the season with wins over Austin Bowie and Georgetown, a team that eliminated the Tigers in the state playoffs last season. The Tigers next host Buda Johnson on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
