All LTISD Schools to Reopen to Visitors Beginning, Monday, February 28
Dear Lake Travis ISD Staff, Parents and Guardians:
We are pleased to inform you that all Lake Travis ISD schools will reopen to visitors, effective Monday, February 28. This update to our protocols is the result of a significant decrease in the number of staff and student coronavirus cases.
We understand that many of you are eager to visit your child’s campus and/or start volunteering, and we are excited to welcome you back. Accordingly, our school principals may share additional information for visitors and volunteers via individual campus newsletters within the next few days. Please note, this may vary by campus.
Despite the downgrade in COVID cases, all visitors and volunteers on district facilities should remain vigilant as per local health officials. We continue to encourage all staff, students and families to wear a mask while inside and on campus in an effort to mitigate community spread of the virus. In accordance with our safety protocols, we ask that visitors, staff and students stay home if sick with any COVID-related symptoms.
Rest assured, the safety of our staff and students remains our highest priority. We will continue to re-evaluate and update our protocols as needed. We look forward to seeing you in our schools.
Sincerely,
Paul Norton
Superintendent of Schools

Be on the Lookout for LTISD Bus Transportation Updates
One might think that our school bus drivers would be immune to anything and everything that could be thrown their way, BUT, from time to time, LTISD bus drivers do need to take a sick day, and at this time the District is not always able to provide a substitute bus driver quickly enough to cover the route.
As a result, there are times when SMARTTag and/or LTISD will notify parents that bus service could be delayed or that bus service for a particular route is canceled. Even though the disruption to service happens very infrequently, it's still an inconvenience when it happens to you and your Tiger(s.) We apologize.
Please be sure to pay close attention to SMARTTag and/or LTISD transportation alerts and updates so that you will know if/when disruption to your service has occurred.
5th to 6th Grade Transition to Middle School
It's hard to believe that it is time to start thinking about our 5th graders moving into middle school. The elementary and middle school principals and counselors have been hard at work planning out a timeline to make this time informational and simple for you. The remaining tasks are:
February 15 - March 7 - Course Selection is Open. Middle School Course Catalogs are available online.
March 1 - March 7 - Students and Elementary Counselors work together to input course selections into Skyward.

Spring Gifted/Talented Nominations Due March 10 for Students Enrolled After October 15, 2021
Dear Parents,
Each year LTISD offers an opportunity for students to be assessed for our GT/Discovery Program. This takes place during the first grading period. However, some students enrolled after that fall deadline,
Every district has different requirements for its GT program. LTISD has a four-part qualification process. Students are assessed in four categories and must achieve qualifying marks in three out of the four categories. We assess cognitive abilities, academic achievement, creativity, as well as qualitative data.
Our program is a project-based, pull-out program. It is not an academically accelerated program. Typically, students come to the GT/Discovery classroom during a designated time during the school day where we work on cognitive abilities, various projects, programming, creative mindset, etc.
Please let me know if you have any questions about our program. If you feel that your child is a good candidate for GT testing, please complete the nomination form located on the LTISD GT information page. Please note that Thursday, March 10, 2022, is the deadline for spring referrals for recently enrolled students.
Thank you,
Ms. Serhus
