Permenter Longhorn Check-In
Week of September 19 - September 23, 2022
Message from the Principal
Please continue to stress with your scholars the impact of their decisions and their educational environment. We appreciate your support in partnering with us to place them in the best setting possible to soar to greater academic heights. Remember that we are committed to scholar safety, scholar achievement and scholar emotional well-being. Sometimes their peers have a huge influence on those items and we must do everything that we can to ensure everyone has the same level of commitment to those aims.
Some reminders & resources:
- We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Sherita Jackson to our campus' counseling staff!!! Mrs. Jackson and has an extensive counseling background. She will serve all 6th grade scholars and 8th grade scholars with last names beginning with A-L.
- Continue to be mindful that there is no on-campus supervision before 8:15 AM or after 4:45 PM. Please ensure your scholar is not on campus outside of those time frames in the best interest of their safety.
- We will host a Webinar this Thursday, September 22nd concerning HB 4545 and its impact on scholars who did not pass any portion of their STAAR assessments last year. This is not relevant to all, so letters will be sent this week for those impacted only. More information about the virtual meeting will be available in the letter.
- September 23rd is a staff development day. All CHISD schools are closed and students are out of school. We will see them again beginning September 26th.
- We will host an in-person open house September 28th from 6:00-7:30 PM. Please attend to learn information about our accountability rating, your scholars' curriculum objectives for the year, opportunities for parent involvement through All Pro Dads and PTSA, receive support for understanding Skyward & Schoology from a parent perspective, and ways for your scholar to get involved through campus activities and organizations.
- September 15th to October 15th is National Hispanic American Heritage Month. More information on this month and its origins can be found here. We are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month daily at Permenter through announcements, daily facts through our campus' Twitter account (@PermenterCH), and through the displays in our library. Additionally, our September 28th Open House will begin with a tribute to Hispanic Heritage Month.
- Scholars attending any athletic event hosted on any CHISD campus must be accompanied by a parent and wearing their school-issued ID badge. This includes games held at Permenter.
- Mrs. Dawn, is our 6th grade assistant principal and 8th graders with last names A-L.

Information on ID Badges
Scholars' ID badges must be visible at all times and not in book bags, pockets or underneath clothing.
Scholars' ID badges must be replaced immediately when lost and/or damaged beyond recognition
If a scholar loses/forgets/breaks their ID badge, they must purchase a temporary ID badge for $1 or purchase a replacement for $5.
If scholars do not have the funds to purchase a temporary ID badge they may receive up to 3 temporary badges on credit, but are still required to pay for them before receiving a 4th temporary badge. After the third temporary badge, students must pay $4.00 for the previous temporary badges along with the 4th temporary ID badge. This charge will be recorded as an obligation until the amount is paid. At this time, obligations can be paid in person. Soon, this obligation will be available to be paid online via the My Payments Plus portal.
When a replacement is required, students must report to the front of the building in the morning to receive a temporary/ replacement ID badge. They will receive their printed replacement later that day if they have purchased one.
Parents will be contacted via phone each time a student doesn’t have the funds to pay for their badge.
Students will receive 1 day in Restorative after receiving 3 temporary badges on credit (if they haven’t paid for them). The scholar will continue to receive 1 day in Restorative until they have the funds to pay for the ID badge(s).
If parents are unable to pay due to financial reasons scholars will be able to complete community service on campus to pay for the badge. The school will evaluate this accommodation on a case by case basis.
Questions? Please contact Assistant Principal Mrs. Dawn via email.
