MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL BRETT WILLE
Happy Spring Break Bearcat Families!
It’s hard to believe we’ve reached this point in the school year. I’m not sure why, but I’m always surprised at this point, wondering where the year went and how we got here so quickly. I hope that our students, staff and families get a much needed and well-deserved break over the next week … we will all need a little extra energy to finish out the school year. The last couple of months of the school year are always full of exciting traditions and celebrations as we bring things to a close and also continue the process of preparing our returning students for next year. In both cases, springtime is an exciting and busy time here in Bearcat land!
As we head into spring break, it was a celebratory week for me, personally, as the principal here at MHS. On Monday night I had the opportunity to briefly share with the school board all of the great work that has been in motion here at MHS over the last couple of years in our quest to become a school for ALL students. Our staff has rolled up their sleeves on so many important areas of work and we don’t get the opportunity, often enough, to share those celebrations and successes with our community. It’s remarkable to think about the progress we’ve made considering all of the adversity we’ve faced in a really challenging time … it says a lot about our students, staff and community that we have so much to share and celebrate. On Wednesday we also had the opportunity to share some of the specifics of our inclusionary journey, for students in Special Education, with middle and high school principals in the Northshore School District. Our Special Education team is taking some monumental steps forward for students and it’s been recognized across the state as transformational work … so much so that MHS continues to be asked to share our story with others. Knowing that we are making things better here in Monroe and also indirectly helping students in other districts through sharing our journey … this was a great way to head into spring break for our MHS team.
Please enjoy your spring break, rest and recharge, and we’ll gear back up on April 11th to finish the year strong. GO BEARCATS!

HI-Q
Our Hi-Q academic competition team is headed to the National Championship (!!!) on Friday, April 1 at 9:00am! This year we have taken our matches online and would love it if your class could support the team by joining us via Zoom Webinar during 2nd period on Friday as we compete against other Hi-Q state champions from Pennsylvania, Alabama, and Michigan / Wisconsin. The match will start promptly at 9:00am and likely last the entirety of the class period. Our Bearcats have been studying since September to make it this far - hopefully you can tune in! You can even have your students play along and answer the questions (all content areas represented).

BEARCAT PRIDE
“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.”
Please consider taking a look at the sign up genius below and take a shift to help out Bearcat Pride. We could really use the help.
We have a VERY busy spring schedule and we’re excited that we’ll be able to be open for most spring home games this year and we NEED volunteers to help. We need concessions staffed to achieve our goal of fundraising for the high school…it’s for the children. Your gift of time will not go unnoticed. You can donate $25.00 to your child’s sport, teacher, or club/activity for each shift you take. Please consider looking at the signupgenius link below and take a spot.
Please consider volunteering for one of the events. Concessions sales go toward scholarships for Seniors, teacher grants, and purchasing items for teacher appreciation.
