February 2014: BUSY BUSY BUSY!!
While we prepare for LGPE in class (and our Pre-LGPE concerts on March 4), we'll also have two other events going on in Mountain View Orchestra:
The First Annual MVHS Concerto Competition is a chance for advanced players to shine. The winners will perform their selected piece, backed by the MVHS Philharmonic Orchestra at our final concert of the year, May 13. See below for details and rules.

Orchestra Room
1. Must play one movement of a standard concerto which has orchestral accompaniment available for sale or rent.
2. Play one movement only (or a partial movement with a cadential stopping point).
3. Your piece should be memorized.
4. A piano accompanist is required.
5. If selected as the winner, the student must perform with the orchestra the movement of the concerto performed in competition.
6. Students will be adjudicated by professional judges. All decisions of the judges are final.

PLAY-A-THON DETAILS!
February 28, 7:00pm until March 1, 7:00am
YOUR STUDENT'S BEST WAY TO EARN MONEY FOR THEIR STUDENT ACCOUNT THIS SEMESTER!!
They can earn money for their Washington DC trip this year or their Austria trip next year by geting pledges and donations from parents/teachers/friends/
neighbors/coaches/etc. Patrons can give a one-time, flat donation OR can pledge a dollar amount per hour the student stays and plays!

Limbo Tournament
Minimum fundraising for the event is $30 per student (so that we can cover the cost of the event, including matierals, supplies, awards, prizes, and SO MUCH FOOD!)... WHEN YOU GET PAST THE $30 MINIMUM, we start dividing the donations approximately 50/50 to the Orchestra General Fund and your student account!

You can donate your time in 2-, 4-, 6- or 12-hour chunks on the night of the Play-A-Thon! There are a variety of assignments like food distribution, monitoring, and prize-giving that you can choose on the web form!
Please consider donating a little of your time to this fun event! The kids love it and they love seeing you there having fun with them!
