Play it Safe Lesson (Virtual Zoom)
During the months of February and March, our counselor will teach all children about personal safety using the “Play it Safe” program. “Play it Safe” is a child abuse awareness and prevention program for children. It teaches children to protect themselves by recognizing, reacting to, and reporting potentially dangerous situations.
For more information, please visit the Play it Safe website: https://playitsafe.org/index.php. Also, feel free to contact Mrs. Garvin our counselor, at agarvin@coppellisd.com if you have any questions.
LEEDER OF THE WEEK: Areeb Salam
Each week one learner in every class will be selected by the designer to be the "LEEder of the Week." Students will be selected by who showed the "Leadership Quality of the Week" best that week.
Our Leadership Quality of the week is Loyalty
CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE WEEK
LEEdership Quality of the Week:
faithfulness to another
A lesson in Leadership:
If you hear something negative about one of your friends, don’t repeat it. If necessary, let a designer know what was said.
Lee Quote of the Week:
“I will speak ill of no man and speak all the good I know of everybody.” -Benjamin Franklin
Portraits for the Yearbook
If you were not able to come to school to get your child’s picture taken for the yearbook, please feel free to send them to your child’s designer. You can have your child stand in front of any plain background (a white wall is fine), and take a picture. Please make sure the picture is not blurry. Please use the following picture as an example. Email your child’s picture to their designer by February 3rd, 2021 with your child’s full name and the word portrait in the subject line. Example below:

Career Technical Education Spirit Week
Family Fun Math in February
Our amazing Coppell ISD District MATH Coordinator, Mary Kemper, has created a family MATH FUN CALENDAR for February. Have fun with our math challenges.
What we are learning:
READING & WRITING
Reading this week, we continued our read aloud, My Side of the Mountain. Learners are enjoying learning about surviving in the wilderness. We also will continue researching a topic in our reading Argument and Advocacy unit. They developed a research plan and started taking notes.
Math
In Math, we took the MAP NWEA assessment. Also, learners began learning about prime and composite numbers. We used the GIZMO to practice our factor trees.
SCIENCE
In Science, we continued our Earth Science Unit. This week we studied renewable and nonrenewable resourses.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In Social Studies this week, we continued our research project on famous inventors of the 19th century. This week learners created a clips video on their inventor.
All elementary learners have access to free breakfast and lunch through the remainder of this school year.
Istation and Dreambox
We will be taking the February ISIP next week and goal setting.
Important Information
Istation: At the beginning of every month, learners will take their monthly Istation assessments. They know the routine for this - there are 4 parts to this assessment - Vocabulary, Spelling, Comprehension (reading a story & answering questions), and Fluency. It is very important that you DO NOT assist your learner with this assessment.
Student Zoom Sign In Update: Please make sure that learners log into ZOOM with their g.coppellisd.com accounts starting on Monday, August 31st. If you would like more information, please view this website.
Here is a step by step guide on how to complete this action
Schoology: As we continue with virtual learning, Schoology is a very important tool during this time. We know some of our learners are using the app, but it is best for them to use the web-based version: https://schoology.coppellisd.com/
Learners need to make sure they are completing and submitting all of their work for each course since that is how we are taking attendance. In addition, although online learning is taking place at home, learners should be starting and finishing their work on their own as they would in-person at school.
Lee Specials Quarterly Newsletter: Our specials team puts out a newsletter each week. Check it out!
Box Tops: Did you know you can SCAN Box Tops and earn money for our school with items you already purchase for your home? Learn more about this quick and easy way to help our school.
