Elementary Honors Band Concert

This Saturday, March 24, Vernfield students will be participating in the Elementary Honors Band concert at 2pm at Indian Crest Middle School. The Honors Band contains band students from each of the six Souderton elementary schools and performs a variety of challenging and exciting music. This is a very special event taking place once a year and mostly contains 5th grade students. Please join us for a great concert on Saturday!

Spring Spirit Wear Sale

Our Spring Spirit Wear sale is now open until April 6th! This Spring, several new items are being offered including a variety of short-sleeve shirts, a personalized baseball jersey, 3/4 sleeve baseball shirt, hoodie, and a baseball cap.

5th Grade Picnic

Attention 5th Grade parents! Please look for a flyer regarding the 5th grade picnic coming home soon! Please fill out the information at the bottom and return it to school with your child by Thursday, March 29th! Thank you!

Earth Day

Vernfield Home and School will be holding its annual Earth Day celebration on Friday, April 20, 2018. The students will rotate through various activites including aquatic ecology, nature trail, school garden, crafts, etc., throughout the day. In order for this day to be a success, we need A LOT of volunteers.

An Earth Day flyer came home on Tuesday. If you are able to help with any of the stations either in the morning, afternoon, or both, please fill out the flyer and return it to your child's teacher by Friday, April 6th. FINAL CALL TO ORDER YEARBOOKS! If you have not purchased your 2018 Yearbook please do so ASAP. To order, go to and search for Vernfield Elementary. They are $18 each. Online orders are preferred but checks/cash can be sent for the exact amount only (no change will be given). Books will be distributed in early June. First In Math - Update from Mrs. Kling

We’ve solved 2,928,573 math problems with First in Math so far this year. Unbelievable.

Vernfield is now 3rd in Souderton Area School District, 21st in the state of Pennsylvania and 51st in the nation.

The top 3-5 team this week is Mrs. Donovan with +11,488 and the top K-2 team this week is Mrs. Raisner’s second grade with +3,671 stickers added this week.

The top 3-5 grade player this week is Gabrielle in Mrs. Halteman’s class with +1,149 and the top K-2 player this week is Adam in Mrs. Raiser’s class with +1,084 stickers.

We are getting closer to catching the second place team in the school district!

Please also note that the last day of school is now Tuesday, June 12, due to adding 2 days to the end of the school year.

DVD Literacy

The DVD Literacy committee will begin taping our Kindergarten students the week of April 3rd.

The committee needs volunteers to help record the students during the school day. No experience necessary! If you are interested in volunteering, please email Amy Thompson at

If you have not yet signed a permission form for your child (it only needs to be done once), a copy will be sent home in your child's communicator or you can find it online here (see also permission letter).

**Yearbook (Spring 2018 and future)

The Yearbook Committee is looking for help with the Spring 2018 Yearbook as well as someone to begin learning how to put together the yearbook when the current staff 'graduates'. The students love receiving a yearbook, and it is a great way to preserve memories from year to year. If you are interested, please contact Sandra Esposito at

**Pod Parents (Summer 2018)

Our Pod Parent committee needs a new chair for the 2018-2019 school year. Pod parents are volunteers that help teachers with many 'start up' tasks during the first week of school, which include copying, cutting, labeling, sorting, etc. The main role of the chair of this committee is create a Sign-up genius to send to interested parents.
