HALO HIGHLIGHT
Dear Saints Parents,
How often have we bent down, eye-level with a child and asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” How many of us still wonder the same thing for ourselves? In my own experience, I’ve come to discover I was asking myself the wrong question. Instead, we should consider what does God ask of us, and where may we best serve Him? As a Catholic school, we must ask these questions and help our students to discover their own answers. I wanted to share one example of this.
Our English III students are writing research papers on college and career choices. Not only have they taken interest inventory surveys, but they are also working with counselors and professionals on navigating their post-secondary paths. Action steps such as building an academic résumé, understanding the college admissions process and being intentional with recognizing their natural gifts and talents to shape their future are the building blocks of the project. We as a school will host a college/career fair as a culminating event.
To quote the patron saint of Catholic Schools, Elizabeth Ann Seton: “The first end I propose in our daily work is to do the will of God; secondly, to do it in the manner he wills it; and thirdly to do it because it is his will.” My prayer for each of our students is they find God and what His will is for their lives.
Blessings,
Mia Orgeron
Assistant Principal
