Friendship Family Newsletter
September 6, 2020
(espanol abajo)
Dear Families,
We hope that you are having a wonderful weekend, and that you were able to join us for our "Meet the Teacher" events, whether in person as a new family or virtually for our students returning to TFS! We know we have provided you with a great deal of information over the past few months, and the information is oftentimes changing and difficult to follow. We are including a few resources here to provide everyone with reminders of what the school day will look like. We have again attached the "sample schedules" for both pre-kindergarten and kindergarten hybrid learning. These schedules show what is happening in the classroom, and what should be happening at home. The teacher will send Google Meet information for the class's morning meeting, closing/afternoon meeting, and the rest of the lessons (they will all be the same link to simplify things for everyone). The sample schedule is very important to review - your child's class will have different times for lessons and activities, but all classes will have morning meeting at 10:00 or 10:30 (for classes that have an early recess).
We are looking forward to the start of school!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Simmons & Mrs. Rivera
Masks
Reminder that the state is expected to change expectations for pre-kindergarten students, and with this, TFS is requiring pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students to wear the proper mask/face covering. Mask breaks for pre-k will be built into the schedule, similar to the kindergarten schedule.
Arrival/Dismissal
Arrival and dismissal will look very different this year. Please see the videos linked below that should help explain the process. Friendly reminders - please make sure your child's car seat or booster seat is behind the passenger seat. If you have multiple children you are transporting to TFS, there is no need to rearrange car/booster seats. You must drive up into the car lane (if you are using a taxi/uber service, the SEAT bus, or walking, please reach out to your child's teacher and school leaders). Staff will receive students starting at 9:15, and students will be dismissed at 3:30 (12:30 on Sept. 8 & 10). We will begin the School Dismissal Manager check-in process with your PIN 15 minutes prior to dismissal.

Understanding Attendance
During distance learning days, you must log your child into the morning google meet in order to be marked as present for attendance. You can do the rest of the lessons/activities at your own pace and timing, if desired.
Seesaw
You should have received an email from your child's teacher with information about Seesaw, which is the app that is needed for communication and for your child's lessons. You'll need to download "Seesaw Class" on your child's device to access the lessons. You'll need the "Seesaw family" app on your own device (phone or personal ipad/tablet) for communication from the teacher. Think of Seesaw family as the parent & teacher version, and Seesaw class as the child-friendly version.
Weekly Planning Communicator
By Tuesday afternoon, your child's teacher will share the weekly planning communicator with you to outline the lessons and activities. Each week thereafter, this will be shared with you by Friday afternoon. Please note that the order of the subject areas on the template may be different than your child's classroom schedule, which will also be shared with you so you can plan to join live lessons when you're able to.
Directory
Please fill out your info if you would like to be included in our directory of families. This is optional, but will help you connect with other TFS families if you wish. The link is below:

Mascaras

Sé a qué grupo pertenece mi hijo (grupo A: lunes / martes o grupo B: jueves / viernes).
