Last Friday the Hornet band (8th, 7th, and 6th) competed in the Texas Private School Middle School Concert Band competition at Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas. They received a one!!! Congratulations Hornet Band!!

Our Principal-for-the-Day, Mr. Josh Matasso (grade 1), led the school in prayer this morning.

The Gospel talked about how Judas, the Iscariot, was paid to betray Jesus. It’s hard when you are deceived by someone who is a friend or family member. It hurts deeply. The best way to respond is to seek Christ and pray about how to respond.

Please continue to encourage your children to collect spare change for the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl encounter. It’s a great was to give alms to the poor.

• Select Parent Log In from the menu bar and FACTS Family Online (ParentsWeb) from the drop-down menu.

CRS Rice Bowl is Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program for families and faith communities in the United States who want to put their faith in action. In its first 40 years, more than $250 million has been given through CRS Rice Bowl to support programs that prevent hunger and poverty around the world. Cardboard CRS Rice Bowls and Lenten calendars have been sent home with all students today. Use your cardboard CRS Rice Bowl and Lenten calendar to guide your Lenten prayer, fasting and almsgiving this Lenten season. Be sure to visit crsricebowl.org to watch videos of the people and communities whose lives your Lenten gifts are changing. CRS Rice Bowls should be returned to the school office by April 26, 2019.

Fifth grade is sponsoring a drive to collect pop tabs (on aluminum cans) to donate to the Ronald McDonald house. These pop tabs will be turned into cash for the families who receive services through Ronald McDonald. Thank you for your help with this fabulous service project.

COME OUT APRIL 28 TO NOLAN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL FOR BBQ COMPETITION!!
As you all know, every year, typically in April, the Diocese teams up with the Stephen Breen Foundation to run Spirit Games up at Nolan Catholic.
This year, due to the construction at Nolan, the original idea of Spirit Games was being postponed until next year.
However, instead of the full fledge carnival and field day, this year we are inviting everyone to a BBQ competition held on April 28!
In order to do so, we will need some BBQ competitors!
We are looking for 12-15 teams, hoping for one representative per school. The teams will be judge on their Brisket, Pork Ribs, and/or Chicken (labeled and/or because each team only needs to submit one of the meats, but can, and is recommended to, submit all three)!
Competitors will be able to arrive by 10 AM on Saturday, April 27 and stay the night at Nolan in order to ensure they are able to get their best results! On April 28, the competition will begin with Mass at 11 AM in the Nolan Catholic Auditorium. Then at Noon, the gates open to the public to come around and try the best BBQ the Diocese has to offer! Judging will begin at 1 PM.
There is no entry fee to compete, but each team will be providing food for all attendees at the event!
It will be $10 a ticket with a $50 max for families when preregistered at www.stephenbreenmemorialfoundation.org.
It will be $15 a ticket with a $50 max for families at the gate at Nolan Catholic.
There will be tables set up for the attendees to sit and enjoy the delicious food; as well as games set up for everyone to enjoy!
