A Note from the Principal
Thank you for your continued diligence in keeping our school community healthy! It is very important that you follow the following procedures when your child stays home from school for COVID symptoms or is sent home from school with COVID symptoms:
- isolate for 10 days OR
- provide a doctor's note clearing your child of COVID with an alternative diagnosis OR
- provide a lab-confirmed negative COVID test (our CFISD Rapid Testing site is lab-confirmed)
I know it can be frustrating, however, these procedures outlined by our Health Services Department will ensure that our staff and students stay as healthy as possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Please remember that students must isolate at home for 14 days if they are a close contact to someone who is lab-confirmed COVID positive. You will need to contact the school so that we can get your child set-up for virtual learning for the two weeks he or she will be isolating at home.
Counselor's Corner
Happy New Year from the Counseling team! To kick off an amazing 2021 our Shadow sessions will wrap up our generosity lessons with the classes we were not able to meet with prior to the holiday break. We will then move to Responsibility. As part of our No Place for Hate lesson, we will talk about our responsibility to each other to not be bystanders when in a situation that just doesn't seem right.
Please let us know how we can best support your child and your family!
Change of Learning Environment

8 Optional Things to Do With Your Child
Letter to an Important Person
Pick an important person to you. Write them a letter explaining why they are important to you.
Use proper letter format, complete sentences and correct grammar.
Research – Important Leaders
January 20th is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Use an internet search to research either Martin Luther King Jr. OR another famous leader. Record 8 facts about that person’s life. Write a paragraph (or 2!) including those facts. Also include the person’s date of birth, death (if passed), and where they were born.
January 19th is National Popcorn Day!
Using the internet, research National Popcorn Day. Make a presentation (poster, paper, foldable paper book, powerpoint, etc.) telling about this incredible day! Present it to someone in your family.
Create a POPCORN STORE
Your popcorn store needs
1) a store name
2) a menu with different types of popcorn to sell – include description and prices
3) a store design (a counter to show the popcorn, seats and tables and decorations in the seating area – think like an ice cream shop)
Write a Special Holiday Story
Write a story about whatever special holiday your family enjoys celebrating. Remember to use character names, setting, details about what happens and information about that special holiday. Use proper letter format, complete sentences and correct grammar.
POPCORN STORE
With parent permission, create a popcorn counter (use a cardboard box – decorate the box). Display your menu. Pop some popcorn and prepare to serve your family! Take orders, based on your menu. Add up the total pricing – show your neat math work!
ENJOY!
Get Your Heart Racing
The weather outside is frightful! Find an open space in your home and design a January workout that includes exercises like jog in place, push-ups, jumping jacks, etc.
Share Your Heart Racing Workout!
Write out your January workout and share it with your family.
