*PARKING FOR GRADUATION*

Due to the Bernie Sanders' rally being held at the Kendall Quad at Chico State this evening, the city is recommending that all graduation attendees avoid the downtown area. Warner Street at 1st Street will be one of two main entrances to the rally (the other being 2nd and Normal), so be aware that the traffic on Warner may be highly congested due to road closures and parking in that area will be limited, if available. Avoid the Highway 32 exit from both northbound and southbound Highway 99, and exit at East First Avenue exit instead. Use the West Sacramento entrance to reach University Stadium and be aware of potential road closures, including Warner Street. Arrive as early as possible to avoid delays. Gates open at 5:30pm.

Re: New immunization requirements for 2016

Under a new law known as SB 277, beginning January 1, 2016 exemptions based on personal beliefs will no longer be an option for the vaccines that are currently required for entry into child care or school in California. Most families will not be affected by the new law because their children have received all required vaccinations. Personal beliefs exemptions on file for a child already attending child care or school will remain valid until the child reaches the next immunization checkpoint at kindergarten (including transitional kindergarten) or 7th grade.

For more information about school immunization requirements and resources, please visit the California Department of Public Health’s website at www.shotsforschool.org, or contact your local health department.

COMPUTERS FOR CLASSROOMS

For some, a home computer is a luxury they cannot afford. Computers for Classrooms may be able to help! CFC provides guaranteed working computers for families and those who cannot afford to buy new ones. To determine qualified applicants, they ask clients to sign a Certification Letter. The buyer certifies that he qualifies for at least one of the programs listed and the computer is to be for personal use and not resold. For a more information about this program, visit computersforclassroom.org.
