Message from Erika Tonello
Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff,
Our teachers have been collaborating and planning lessons that are aligned to the grade-level benchmarks. The school year is coming to an end, and it is almost time for our Cubbies to show us what they have learned.
In April, all Cypress students will be given the DIBELS Assessment. DIBELS helps teachers to measure the students’ reading skills and abilities so that they can plan for strategic reading instruction.
Our intermediate students will take the NWEA Science test. This test measures the grade-level benchmarks learned in Science and STEM Lab all year.
In May, all students will take the FAST Reading and Math assessments for Progress Monitoring 3. The FAST assessments are on the computer and focus on the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards.
Also, fifth graders will be taking the FCAT Science test on May 9th and 10th.
Attached is a calendar so that you know the dates your child will be tested. Please make sure they get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast each day of testing.
You will be able to access your child’s scores in the Parent Portal at a later date, we will inform you once the scores have been released.
If you would like your child to have some extra practice, you may use the following link to access a practice opportunity for grades 3-5. https://login4.cambiumtds.com/student_core/V92/Pages/LoginShell.aspx?c=Florida_PT&a=Student
Please encourage your child to read as much as possible at home. Remember the more you read, the better you read.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tonello
