May is here! The weather is slowly starting to warm up and our students are enjoying themselves outside at recess time. We are in the midst of cleaning out the gardens in our outdoor learning environment to prepare for planting in June. We have recently purchased a Tower Garden for our school to help grow produce during the colder months of our school year.

During the months of March and April, we were able to see the students in grade 3 and 4 present their talents at the Variety Shows. We really appreciate all the families that are able to attend the assemblies for their child's grade. We look forward to the Grade 1 and 2 students presenting their talents at their variety show during the months of May and June.

We are excited to meet our up and coming Kindergarten students at our Kindergarten Welcome evening May 3 from 5:30-6:30 pm. We will first meet in the gym for a brief introduction, then split up into a couple of groups where students and parents will have a Bucket Filling story read to them by Mr. Campbell, a bus ride around the block, and a classroom tour with questions time. We look forward to meeting everyone!!

Parents and their upcoming Kindergarten children are invited to a Kindergarten Welcome Evening on May 3 at 5:30 pm- 6:30 pm. Parents of upcoming Kindergarten children have been notified of their child's May 4 or 5 teacher-student connection time. Each child will attend stations that review the development of concepts, speech, and language. There will be regular Kindergarten classes on these dates.

"Soup's On" provides daily school lunches to families in need. It can be started and stopped as needed. Contact our Resource Teacher Ms. Marge Thiessen (mthiessen@hsd.ca) or your child's teacher via agenda book to register your child.
