A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

September 14, 2020

Dear Luther Burbank Families,

We are VERY excited to welcome our students to school this week! Wahoo! Our first day of school, Wednesday, September 16th, will be a full remote day of learning for our students. Last Friday, September 11th, each of our grade level teams emailed information to families with specific information about their child’s first day, including where and how students should log in virtually and what the schedule for Wednesday will look like. Students in our B cohort (“Green” cohort) will attend school in person on Thursday and Friday. We look forward to seeing students in our “Blue” cohort in person on Monday, September 21st, and Tuesday, September 22nd. Our schedule will continue from that point forward.

Our awesome Luther Burbank staff has created an orientation video that I encourage all families to watch with their child(ren) before Wednesday, September 16th. This video shares a snapshot of changes we have made at Luther Burbank as we work to support the safety of all of our students and staff during this time. The video also provides a look at our new procedures and protocols. I would like to thank all of our amazing student volunteers who helped with the modeling of some very important elements of our new school day.

If you have not yet had an opportunity to review our LBMS COVID-19 Guidelines and Protocols for Students and Families, please take a moment to do so prior to our student’s first day. This protocol document serves as a supplement to our LBMS Student and Parent Handbook.

Other Important Information to Note:

  • Please label all student supplies prior to your child’s first day of in person learning.

  • For those families driving their child to/from school, please adhere to the following:

    • Parent Drop-Off - Arrive as close to 7:35 as possible and NO EARLIER than 7:25 to line up in parent drop-off line. This will help to ensure that cars do not back up on Rte. 70 and interfere with the flow of traffic.

    • Students in parent drop-off queue will NOT be marked tardy.

    • Parent Pick-Up - Arrive as close to 2:15 and NO EARLIER than 2:05 to line up in parent drop-off line. Once again, this will help to ensure that cars do not back up on Rte. 70 and interfere with traffic.
