Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
I hope you had some nice family time during our February break! As we get closer to the spring, the snow is melting, and more outside play will take place. Please make sure the students are dressed to be outside in the cold temperatures. Please write your child's name in their jackets as our LOST-AND-FOUND bin is overflowing again.
Parent Teacher Conferences will take place on March 10th and schools will be closed to students. Teachers are sending home a Google Form to fill out your preferred time ranges for your conference. The conferences are in-person limited to two parents at a time. If you cannot come in that day and prefer to meet virtually, you can request that type of meeting. Due to time restraints teachers will not be able to a create virtual meeting that day for previously scheduled in-person meetings so please be mindful of the time that is assigned to you.
Our next PTA meeting will be at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, March 23rd. I hope you can join us.
The 6th Grade North Merrick Theater Arts production will take place on March 25th and 26th at 7:00 PM.
The NYS ELA Assessments will take place for Grades 3&5 on March 29 & 30. Grades 4&6 will will take the assessment on March 30 & 31.
As always, if you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to the main office.
Sincerely,
Hillary Bromberg, Ed.D.

Did You Know we Have a Direct Absence Line?
Please be reminded that regular school attendance is not only mandated by law, but is a key ingredient for educational success. Legal reasons for absences include: illness, death in family, court appearances, and observance of religious holidays. If your child is frequently absent due to illness, you will be contacted and medical documentation may be requested. All other absences will be considered unexcused or truant.
Please also be aware that lateness to school can be considered partial truancy and is monitored as closely as absences. Chronic lateness is disruptive to the students in the class, the teacher, and most importantly, to the child. Parents and guardians are asked to contact the school to report each absence. This can be done by calling our Absentee Line at 516-379-3733. If you are requesting classwork and/or homework for your child on the day of the absence, please leave that message with the nurse or on the absence line. Parents are requested to submit a written and signed excuse note for each absence your child has, when they return to school.
