A Message From Your Principal - Un mensaje de la Directora Sra. Fine
Dear Glenn Families,
I hope you and your family enjoyed the Thanksgiving break with loved ones! This break serves as my reminder that although the month of December will certainly be gone in the blink of an eye we must take time to pause, reflect, and appreciate all that surrounds us. We are extremely fortunate to have a phenomenal group of students, supportive parents / guardians, and family members, as well as an incredible staff that work tirelessly for our students and our hopes for their future. I appreciate each and every one of you and am grateful to be a part of the John Glenn Community.
I want to THANK YOU! Since our last Family Newsletter where we shared the correlation of attendance to achievement we have seen an increase in attendance! YAY! I cannot stress enough how much our students are learning each day in class - and with tutors, academic specialists, guidance lessons, discovery, and library – it is so true that when students miss – they “miss out” on these amazing opportunities that will support their social and academic achievement.
Over the next few weeks we will be gathering comprehensive middle of the year data in Reading, Math, and Writing to monitor your child’s academic progress based on goals that were set based on individual needs. It is imperative that we are able to gather this information to celebrate achievements and modify and / or add additional supports for your child. I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher so you can view this data and monitor your child’s progress on their individual “Student Data Folders”.
I wish you and your family a wonderful winter break and look forward to hearing about all of the memories that you will make through the stories of your children. Happy Holidays Glenn Familia!
