Oak Crest Family Tiger Topics
April 29, 2022
May is here!
When we come back on Monday it is the final month of the school year! It is hard to believe!
We have accomplished so much and your children have grown as students and friends. We are going to enjoy our last four weeks with your kids by celebrating their year, but continuing to learn through the last day. It is also time for you to make plans so that summer is not only a chance to relax, but to continue to grow for your kids. There are so many ways students can continue to learn in the summer and it makes a huge impact on their readiness when they return in the fall. Here are a couple places to look:

Thank you for continuing to support your child and our school!
Enjoy the weekend! Be RED!

Our teachers at Oak Crest are incredible! If you want to recognize or thank your child's teacher this is a great time to do so! I encourage personal notes from parents and/or students as a great way to show gratitude!
TIGER TARGET: I can live with purpose.
Everyday we are faced with a thousand choices. The reasons, values, and priorities that help you make a decision show your purpose. Having a purpose makes sure that you are living your life the right way. My purpose is to be a great dad, husband, and educator. I try to make decisions that help me be my best in those roles. This week, think about your purpose and use your purpose to make the right choices.
Thank you for selling candy bars! Students sold over 500 boxes and forced me to dye my hair RED today!
Award winning author Mary Bleckwehl will meet with OC students on Monday May 9.
Support our School Garden Project on May 16
On May 16, we are having a gardening event in partnership with Scott Carver County. Each OC student will have the chance to learn a little bit about plants from a master gardener. Then they will contribute to the planting of our vegetable gardens behind our school.
We are looking for families to donate plants and/or seeds to this event. Please use this form to see what types of vegetables we are looking to collect and pledge a donation. Donations will be collected on May 13, the Friday before the event. One suggestion is that students may choose to start growing seeds in advance at home, and then we will transfer them to the garden at school.

Thank you Dale Giles and Anna Bruellman!
Friday the 29th we are celebrating two Oak Crest Tigers that are moving on from our school.
Anna Bruellman covered beautifully for Amy Stolee for the last 4 months in 5th grade. Her ability to step in to a new school, mid-year, and keep momentum and learning going is a testament to her professionalism and abilities as an educator. We were fortunate to have her on our team this year!
