Hello Dunning Community!
As we head into our third week of school, we are continuing to teach and reinforce expected behaviors in our common areas of the school, as well as in classrooms and instructional spaces. As a school we are placing an emphasis on teaching expected behaviors explicitly and directly. We are also reinforcing Dunning's core values of being respectful, responsible. and ready to learn. We know that students are continuing to learn and grow with regard to making positive choices. When students do not make a positive choice, we use it as an opportunity to give feedback, have students take ownership of their behavior, and use a restorative approach to repair the harm that was caused.
Students began taking the i-Ready test this week. For those of you not familiar with i-Ready, it is an online, interactive learning environment designed to assess students and then provide individualized instruction based on each student’s unique needs. The i-Ready experience builds students’ investment in their learning by giving them real-time feedback on their progress in each skill. As students complete each assignment successfully, they earn credits that they can use to play games.
We will be kicking off the Panda Pride Fun Run at our community meeting on Tuesday morning. When we get closer to the run, the students will be bringing home their fun run t-shirt provided by the PTO. Please save the shirt for the day of the Fun Run and make sure that your child wears his/her t-shirt on the Fun Run day, September 28th.
We look forward to seeing parents of our third, fourth, and fifth graders at Curriculum Night, this Thursday (September 20th) at 6:30.
Have a great week!
Ms. Schecter & Mrs. Mulkerin
THANK YOU TO ANDREA & TED GELLER...

This does not take up too much of your time. Teachers are looking for a parent to help organize class parties by creating sign ups, alert families of special activities, and help with certain classroom notifications. Most of the work is done via email. The teacher & students will thank you for it!
