JULY 5, 2022

I hope you and your family are getting much rest and relaxation. The 2021-22 school year provided us with numerous challenges which highlighted our strengths as a community. Our resilient students, staff, and community members overcame unprecedented challenges. I am so proud of our T-Bolts for all your hard work and well earned successes. I am also excited for what's to come for VJA! Our hope for the 2022-23 school year is the continuation of our legacy of high expectations and strong relationships. Our goal is to afford the best opportunities for our students and staff.

Please continue to refer to our website, our VJA website and our Andrew High School Twitter page @AndrewHS_d230 for updated information on any and all developments at VJA.

I am honored to serve as your Principal. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you again and best wishes for a happy, healthy, and enjoyable summer!

Greetings from the T-Bolt athletic department. Happy 4th of July to all our T-Bolt families. We want to remind families that registration for the 2022-23 school year for all athletic programs is currently available through 8to18 which is accessible from our school website by clicking the ATHLETICS tab at the top, and then clicking the registration page. We have a parent resource document to assist you through the registration process which is also found on our website under FORMS & LINKS. The fall season starts on Monday, August 8th for football, boys soccer, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls golf, girls tennis, girls volleyball, and girls swim/dive. Many of our fall programs are cut sports, which means all athletes interested must tryout to make the roster. If your family plans to be on vacation during the week of August 8th, we encourage you to contact the head program coach of your desired sport. Also, summer camp registration is still open for camps taking place in July. Links to the camp registration page are also found on our athletic website. In closing, we want to remind our families that sports physicals must be downloaded straight into the laserfiche system and are no longer being taken by the nurse and athletic office. The laserfiche link is also available on our athletic website as well. Please feel free to email our office with any questions, and have a great summer! Go T-Bolts!

This year was a great year for co-curricular activities. We were able to get many kids back involved with co-curricular activities and that is always good news. There is a lot of research that shows that when a student is involved in co-curricular activities they are more likely to want to go to school and then succeed. This past year we had over 72% of our students involved in at least one co-curricular activity with over 82% of our freshmen involved. Our goal is to keep the freshmen involved and get even more of the rest of our students involved. Not only were they getting involved but they were excelling in them. We were able to put on many outstanding performances in our PAC, and we were able to highlight our talented student body. In addition, our performances were able to succeed competitively with our activities. We had IHSA State Champions and as teams, we placed in the top 4 in other activities. As usual, our Band program found success at the local, state, and national levels. We are so proud of all of the effort that our students put into their clubs.

To help get our incoming students involved, we are excited that for the second year in a row we will be able to offer Bolt Bash. This event allows new students to learn about the over 70 different clubs that we offer and do it in a fun student-led way. Students will sign up for either August 3rd or 4th from 4:00 to 7:30. During that time they will meet other kids, learn Andrew's traditions, eat some food, and just have general fun. Families can sign up their incoming freshmen or transfer students here.

The Booster Club would like to congratulate the following students on receiving the end of year scholarships: Matz Scholarships were awarded to Phillip White; Sarah Tesher, Katie DeHaan, and Alexis Kwiat. Athletic Booster Club Scholarships were awarded to Philip Godette, Jack Day, Andrew London, Michael George, Chloe Krueger, Marissa Adams, Kelsey Canavan, and Brina Arvanetes. We wish these students success and know they have a bright future ahead of them!

Our Booster Club meetings for the 2022-2023 year are as follows:

Wednesday, August 10th; Wednesday, September 14th; Wednesday, October 12th; Wednesday, November 9th; No Meeting in December; Wednesday, January 11th; Wednesday, February 8th; Wednesday, March 15th; Wednesday, April 12th; Thursday, May 18th

All meetings will be held in Room 220 at 7:00 pm unless notified otherwise.

We would like to welcome our Officers for the year of 2022-2023:

Lesley Magnabosco, President

Chris Erickson, Vice President

Kathy Bobber, Secretary

Paula George, Treasurer

We would also like to welcome the new directors that have joined our group and the directors that have decided to stay on. We would not be able to provide the much needed funding to the student athletes of our school without your help. This will be my last year as President and we have many others in this group that will be stepping down after this year as their students are graduating. I urge incoming freshman parents to come to our first meeting to see what this group is about. We would love to pass the torch off to the next great wave of T-Bolts! Feel free to contact me with any questions at

The Beginning of the 2022-2023 school music seasons has already started. The VJA Marching Band has already started practicing for this upcoming season. Their show is titled “Fly”. Marching Band camp is the week on August 1st thru 6th.

Any parents interested in helping to plan the Marching Band Invitational? Please come out on Wednesday July 13th at 6 pm in the choir room. We will be having an Invitational planning meeting and all parents are welcome.

Congratulations to Andrew Alumni who have made it into various Drum Corps this year. They are Jacob Rizzuto, Lulu Juma, Kendall Betts, Bridget Brogan, Kristian Banloi, Luigi Taupo, and Cara Hickey. The Andrew music program is so proud of each of them.

The Andrew Craft fair is looking for help this year. This is one of the VJA Music Parents Association number one fundraisers. Please consider reaching out to Beth and help make it a successful event.

Thank you and Eyes with Pride!!

We are hopeful that everyone is enjoying their Summer Break and taking this time to enjoy some Fun in the Sun and experience some new adventures and renewal. TPPO cannot wait to plan this years' enrichment fundraisers for students, parents/guardians and staff members to enjoy! We are in the making of having a Welcome Back Fundraiser!

The Thunder Pride Parent Organization would like to take this time to say "Welcome" to the new incoming freshmen students and parents/guardians this year. We will be announcing in the August newsletter the first meeting to kick off TPPO planning. Keep an eye out for that date and come join us!

We can’t wait to see old faces and new faces this year! Everyone is always welcome and encouraged to attend our monthly meeting. TPPO is a great way to keep in touch with what is going on at your students school, studies also have shown that parents/guardians involved in their students school, do an average of 20% better in their studies.

If you have not yet signed up to become a member of TPPO please do so by going to the homepage and click on Parent Organization then go to Thunder Pride Parent Organization scroll down to the bottom of the page to get directions on how to sign up or see if you are signed up. Once you sign up for the yearly membership this qualifies your student/students as a Senior to be in the random drawing for a Scholarship!

For those parents/guardians that want to get involved in TPPO by volunteering, or those who would like to jump on board and become a new Board Member to our Organization, we are currently in need of a Secretary and Vice President! If you are interested, please email briefly tell me about yourself, interests, experience in volunteering, availability and why you want to be a VJA TPPO Board Member.

TPPO hopes that you all have the best remaining summer and we can’t wait to get this year started with a Welcome Back Fundraiser!!
