Diversity
This month we are highlighting and celebrating diversity. Diversity is important because it brings new ideas, ways of thinking, and opportunities to learn from one another. Diversity allows for different interpretations and viewpoints based upon experiences and perspectives. Diverse environments also help to promote acceptance and diminish misconceptions for ideas and cultures which may differ from our own ideas and beliefs.
CNUSD is a district rich in diversity. We have students who speak different languages, come from a variety of different countries, and a host of different cultures. Counselors embrace and celebrate diversity. We use diversity to help our students understand the unique perspectives of their peers. Counselors promote understanding and acceptance of ALL students regardless of their culture, language, beliefs, and viewpoints. Remember, together our diversity makes something beautiful.
Did you know February 1–5 is National School Counseling Week? While the delivery of school counselor services has changed over the last year, the school counseling role remains the same. Counselors are here to provide support and advocate for ALL children. Our job is to provide social, emotional, and academic support for ALL students. We also provide lessons and resources to make sure ALL students are college and career ready. CNUSD counselors are very innovative, and they have created many platforms to reach our students, families, and the community. Counselors have created virtual counseling rooms, newsletters, social media accounts, clubs, how to videos, and virtual college tours. Counselors want ALL students to succeed. We are here for you, so don’t hesitate to reach out.
