Jennings Award Recipients!

Students were selected by their classmates for this coveted award. The students receiving this award exemplify kindness in every sense of the word. The Jennings Rule that they live by is "No child shall be made fun of, embarrassed or humiliated in any way before, during or after school hours. Each student, no matter how different, will be accorded the respect and dignity which is his or her human right."

2015-16 Honors Night Recipients

Congratulations to all of our students who were recognized on Friday night for receiving a 3.5 or higher for both 1st & 2nd trimester. We are very proud of these students and commend them on their internal motivation to do well. Congratulations to their parents as well for their student's schooling and overall education. It is so exciting to see 41% of our student body with a 3.5 or higher for both trimesters!!

All Library Books are Due on Friday, June 3rd

Just a reminder that all library materials are due on Friday, June 3rd. Please make sure your student returns any missing materials by then. If the item cannot be found, please see Mrs. Kallerward for replacement costs. Failure to not return materials or pay for missing materials will result in students not being able to participate in

Yearbook Order Forms are Now Available!

If you would like to order a 2015-16 school yearbook for your student, forms are available in our office or in any teacher's classroom. Yearbooks cost $20 and need to be ordered by Monday, June 6th. Yearbooks will be available for distribution in September.

OMS Tennis Team Ends Season 5-1

The OMS tennis team wrapped up their fine season at the Wolverine Conference Tournament. Three Otsego flights received 2nd place medals. They were 1st doubles - Caleb Korringa & Karina Hess, 2nd doubles - Caleb Piersma & Seth Stender, & 3rd doubles - Kyle Brown &

Burd. Third place finishes were achieved by 1st singles - Lauren Layman, 2nd singles - Luc McPherson & 4th doubles - Turner Rohr & David Stiles. Fifth place doubles Kayla Merrill & Kiersten Hicks won 4th place. Sixth grade 1st doubles - Dagim DeBoer & Ben Bickel won 2 out of their 3 matches yesterday. The Bulldogs finished their season

Stretch your Food Dollars this Summer

Get more fruits and vegetables when you use your SNAP Bridge Card at participating local Farmers Markets June 1-Oct. 3. Bring your Bridge Card to the farmers market office. Buy SNAP eligible foods at the market with your Bridge Card dollars. They'll match what you spend with free double up food bucks up to $20 every market day. Fall Sports at OMS

  • Volleyball (7th & 8th grades) try-outs begin August 29th.
  • Cross Country (6th-8th grades) practice begins August 22nd.
  • Football (7th & 8th grades) begins August 22nd. Look for additional information soon.


All athletes will need a physical after April 15, 2016, a consent form and a $10 participation fee.

Sports Physicals Available

The Borgess Family Medicine & Pediatrics (345 Naomi St., Plainwell) office will be hosting a Plainwell & Otsego Sports physical on Saturday, June 4th from 7:30 a.m. - noon. The cost is $10.


Borgess Orthopedic (2490 S. 11th St., Kalamazoo) will also be hosting a physical day on Saturday, May 21st. Students must be in line by 10 a.m. Doors open at 8 a.m. The cost is $10.

Cell Phone Usage

Please remind your student that unless a teacher specifically instructs students to bring their cell phone to class, cell phones should remain in their lockers including at lunch time. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Season is over, but Summer Swim Season will be coming! Start date to be around May 23 and will continue until July 23. All those who want to swim competitively are welcome and encouraged to join! It is a great way for multi-athletes to stay in shape over the summer!
