This Week at MHS

Here's what is happening the week of April 12th -16th!

Dear MHS Parents and Students,

We want to thank all our families who supported the MCS Foundation through participation in the Starlight Gala this past weekend. We appreciate the support our community provides to all our schools!

We are quickly reaching the end of the school year. I recommend all parents log in to PowerSchool to check your student’s progress. School counselors will be reaching out to students who may need to consider summer school this year - May 24 through June 18th. Let’s keep up the hard work and finish this year strong.

Rising Seniors - SAVE THE DATE - Senior Pictures will be held in the MHS Library May 26th and 27th. More information will be coming to you from McEachern Photography, the new photo company for MHS.

TSSAA has revised some of the COVID policies and temperatures will no longer be taken at sporting events. Masks are still required for entry and to be worn if you are not able to social distance from individuals outside your family circle. Thank you for helping us to meet the TSSAA expectations.

We remind everyone that all students are expected to wear a face covering when social distancing cannot occur. We appreciate your support in caring for the health and well being of our school community.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is hiring for this summer's high school internship program. The program is looking for applicants from the Class of 2021 and 2022 that enjoy the outdoors and have a good attitude. This paid position is a 6-week internship that starts June 7. COVID safety will be prioritized. Participants will learn how to band, handle and release birds, will use electrofishing to monitor fish populations and will assist biologists in collaring and measuring newborn elk calves. To apply, visit the announcements tab on the MHS School Counseling Canvas page or the MHS webpage for more information.

MHS school counselors have created a virtual appointment request for our students. If your child would like to meet with his/her school counselor, please direct them to this link https://mhs.maryville-schools.org/parents-students/guidance or encourage them to drop by guidance in person. The best part of our day is meeting with students and we can't wait to become better acquainted with your son or daughter.

Upcoming scholarships of interest include: Carr/Flowers/Gallagher Scholarship (4/16/21), Foothills Striders Scholarship Program (4/21/21).
