Biddeford Center of Technology
Dear Students, Guardians and Families,
We are at the beginning of our second quarter!
Schoolwide Events/Information:
November 2nd was Parent Teacher Conferences. Instructors had the opportunity to meet with parents to discuss student performance and progress. If you did not get information about conferences and would like to meet, please reach out to the instructor to schedule another time.
On November 5th, many of our students took the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery). This aptitude inventory is beneficial to students who plan on entering the military and is also good for students who are unsure what they want their next steps to be. This inventory details areas of strengths and which careers are in alignment with those skills.
BRCOT has begun inviting teachers from our sending schools to come see their students in action! Students have been able to impress their teachers with what they are learning here at COT.
Like other schools across the country, finding substitute teachers has been challenging during this first quarter. We have been extremely grateful to the substitutes who have been able to help us and support our students, staff, and programs. Thank you to the following substitutes: Victoria Alberti, Bill Canning, Noah Koch, Larry Laverriere, Kim Loranger, Mary Norton, Ron Ouellette, Dana Peck, and Franklin Westleigh. A special thanks to Heather Thomson, who has worked as a long-term substitute for the first quarter.

STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
We are proud of our students at COT and proud of all they are learning and accomplishing. We have begun recognizing students who are demonstrating areas of strength in leadership, attendance, quality of work, reliability, responsibility, initiative, and academics by naming them as a student of the month. Recognized students are identified by their instructors. Please Note: Instructors/programs are not required to have a student of the month every month.
October Students of the Month are as follows:
- Auto Body: Travis Crozier - Travis has shown great interest in learning and doing all aspects of the auto collision field. He has been up to the task of taking on more lab tasks and has done very well in the classroom.
- Automotive Tech: Brianna Haskell - Brianna each day demonstrates the skills necessary to be an excellent Automotive Technician. She is a hard worker, a mentor to other students, and is always willing to take on new challenges presented to her.
- Business - Accounting: Adriana Ledeux - Adriana is not only a wonderful student, but she contributes with thoughtful questions. She understands the content (which is difficult) and hands all assignments in on time. In addition, she is clearly putting in top effort. She is a pleasure to have in class.
- Business Academy: Brianna Haskell - Bri is always ready to contribute to the class. She always offers an interesting perspective on what we are discussing. She is polite and respectful and never complains.
- CNA Health Assistant (A.M.): Ellana Stepp - Ellie is always in class early, ready to learn with a positive attitude. She asks and answers questions. Ellie is a leader in the lab and an all-around good person.
- CNA Health Assistant (P.M.): Kylie Rowe - Kylie comes to class every day ready to learn. She asks good questions, always participates, and is a leader in the classroom and labs. She is friendly with everyone and is always willing to help.
- Computer Technology (A.M.): Ian Lajoie - Ian placed third in the Maine App Challenge last spring. His App, Quick Work, is designed to help people solve problems with their off-road recreational vehicles. Now in his second year in the program, Ian has pushed himself outside of his comfort zone to be a leader in the classroom.
- Electrical: Nicholas Basgall - Nick is a gifted student who is helping me develop a safe and fun second-year electrical program. He can see motor circuits and ladder drawings in a way that takes other years to read. His gift of design and electronics just makes me envious of his ability. He helps others in the class, helps me in the shop co-teaching and has an amazing attitude.
- EMS: Desmond Aldrich - Dez is one of our first platoon leaders for the EMS Academy and has done a great job leading his group, helping to keep them on track in group activities. He helps clean up equipment and does well with his own grades while checking in on his crew to be sure they are doing well and offers help when they need it. He seems to have natural leadership qualities and is vested in learning everything he can about EMS.
- Intro to Medical Science: Jamie (Elizabeth) Johnson - Jamie does a great job on her work, achieving high grades, but has also set an example as a student who is very engaged and always willing to participate in discussions and group activities. She is a leader in class discussions and group activities. She always has excellent contributions to the class.
- Intro to Business: Beldomisa Mendes - Bell is a very conscientious student. She has worked very hard to do well in this class.
- Intro to Education: Jonathan Rangel - Johnathan joined the class a little later than others. However, he has fit right in. His attendance is great and does well in his academic work. He participates in discussions and is enjoying working with four year old's at a local childcare program.
- Legal Studies: Devin Johnson - Devin is exceeding expectations in this class. She is focused, determined, and very serious about her achievements and future.
- Plumbing 1: Nathan Riche - Nathan is always prepared, stays on task, completes all work and thinks ahead.
- Plumbing 2: Josh Knight - Josh is always respectful, works hard, and has a great attitude.
- Residential Carpentry (A.M.): Chris Allen - Chris is very dependable, has good work habits, and works hard to support his classmates on work assignments.
- Residential Carpentry (P.M.): Drayden Tukey - Dray demonstrates excellent work habits, has perfect attendance, and is a leader in the shop. He is often the first one to step up when I ask for a volunteer, and he willingly assists his classmates without being asked.
- Teaching and Early Education: Emma Raymond - Emma is a top student. She often turns in work early and is always participating in class discussions. She took it upon herself to design a class t-shirt. She was very attentive to the children during the first week of preschool.
