๐Ÿ‘‰ Student Emergency Card DUE Mon., 9/26

Students will be receiving a BLUE Student Emergency Card in their homework folders tomorrow for information updates and changes. Please update the information on the card and provide a parent signature (even if there are no changes).

Please return this with the weekly homework on the following Monday, 9/26. Thank you very much for your help

๐Ÿ‘‰ Comfort packs DUE Fri., 9/30

A 1 gallon size Ziploc bag will be sent home tomorrow in students' homework folders with a sheet describing the purpose of a comfort pack and recommended items to include. We hope that we will never have to use them. However, in the event of an emergency when parents cannot be reunited with their child, these packs will be of great comfort to your child.

Recommended items to include:

1. Two small packages of tissues

2. A large black plastic garbage bag, folded

3. An emergency "solar blanket": Label with your child's name.

4. Several wrapped hard candies (no gum)

5. A reassuring note of love and comfort from you

6. A photo of your child's immediate family

7. Small tube of lip protectant

8. Small size sun block ointment

9. Hat for sun protection: Label with your child's name

10. Non-perishable food, such as one small can of fruit and one small canned meat (easy open "pull-top" cans only); include plastic spoon

11. If space allows, add small books, pencils, games and activities (no crayons as they will melt)

12. If space allows, one small cuddly item

๐Ÿ‘‰ Parent/Student Handbook DUE Mon., 10/3 to MAIN OFFICE

Parent/Student Handbooks will also be going home in students' homework folders tomorrow. Please take a look at the handbook and sign and return the forms to the school OFFICE by Monday, 10/3. (Please staple or clip the forms together.)

๐Ÿ‘‰ Box Tops-- Money for Education DUE 10/7 (From PTA)

Your student should bring home a box tops collection sheet this week. If you buy these products, look for the box top coupon and start clipping.

1 box top = 10ยข for Field.

Complete and return your sheet for a chance at a raffle prize.

Online Social Media Photo/Video Release Form DUE ASAP

Throughout the year, our students will be participating in numerous fun and engaging educational activities both in the classroom and outside the classroom (i.e., field trips). We would love to capture these memories and share them on our private class Shutterfly class site for our class to enjoy.

I will also be posting photographs and videos of our classroom happenings on social media networks such as Facebook (facebook.com/missaprilwu), Twitter (twitter.com/msaprilwu), and Instagram (instagram.com/msaprilwu) to share and connect with a broader audience. Because I am sensitive to the safety and privacy of your family, at no time will the names of our students accompany their photo or video image.

Please indicate your preferences by clicking on the link that corresponds with your child's homeroom teacher. This will help facilitate the organization process.

Please complete the online photo/video release ASAP. Thank you very much!

๐Ÿ‘‰ Late Homework Policy

If your child is unable to turn in homework on time each Monday, please have him/her keep the homework until the FOLLOWING Monday. This will help prevent loose floating papers in the classroom and facilitate the homework collection process. Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation!

๐Ÿ‘‰ Khan Academy (OPTIONAL)

As a supplemental resource, I will be assigning Math work from khanacademy.org. This is a wonderful resource for students who would like more practice with the concepts taught at school or would like more challenging Math work.

The website adapts the questions based on each child's level. The more questions students answer correctly, the harder the problems will get. The program will also make problems easier if students are struggling with correctly answering the problems.

Please see below on how to sign up. This information will also be posted on our second grade class site under "Math Resources" within the "Math" tab.

  1. Sign up at khanacademy.org (or log in with their existing accounts)
  2. Visit khanacademy.org/coaches
  3. There, in the "Add a coach" field, enter the class code FSKCM3

Enjoy the week! :)
