New Resources to Share
Click on the link to see our new titles. We've added several Texas history titles. Also, our biography and holiday collections have been expanded (many of these are written as graphic novels, but you can choose to have the texts read aloud showing students how to read this format). All of these titles have been purchased with a multi-user license which allows classes/individuals to view at the same time.
You can also access these titles by going to the Mark Twain library page - selecting e-books - selecting Mark Twain in Alvin, Texas - username is mtlib - password is mtread.
This database has been expanded to include Early World of Learning for preschool/primary grades. There are nursery rhymes, shapes, numbers, and opposites activities as well as reading selections both in English and in Spanish. (The Spanish selections are read by an actual person - they are not machine generated.)
World Book Discover is new for differentiated learning. It includes reference articles, text-to-text capabilities, learning and life skills activities, interactive videos, etc.
World Book Student is an excellent resource for biographies, animal studies, Texas history, etc.
You can also access this database by going to the Mark Twain library page - selecting On-line Databases - username is alvinisd - password is lonestar.
Camera with green screen
The technology department is purchasing a camera with a green screen for our campus. You can video your students using the green screen as a background. Then you will upload your video to a program where you can choose from several background scenes such as a beach. This resource could be used for morning announcements, reader's theater, etc. Charles Bagley will bring the camera and install the software (more information to follow).
