Goals Update for the 2020-2021 School Year
- The first goal was to develop curriculum and implement it for the Library Media Course. This was completed successfully. In a survey of students who took the course, all students said that they enjoyed the class and would not change anything about it. Many said that it was their favorite part of the day.
- The second goal was to increase reading engagement with students during the pandemic. This was completed by bringing classes back into the library after we went to all students in person, having a First Chapter Friday podcast (where Mrs. Young or a guest read the first chapter of a book), having a book delivery program where students and staff could request books and we delivered it to their classrooms, and having evening pick-up or delivery of books for in-person and virtual learners as needed.
Goals for the 2021-2022 School Year
- The main goal for the 2021-2022 school year is to get people back into the library. We will do this by continuing with our Freshmen orientation and instruction, being open to students at lunch, working with teachers during CT time, and bringing back in-person Breakouts.
- Students need to better understand the usage of appropriate resources for research. Working with teachers, I will create a tiered learning module for research that will include the research process and learning to use appropriate resources.
Mission of the Avon High School Libraries
