January 10 - January 14
A Note From Ms. D
It has been a great first week back to school! Many of the students have grown up quite a bit over the winter vacation and it is good to see everyone back healthy and rested. This week we looked at a brief introduction to telling time to the hour, and we had our first homework assignment in our math games packet. If you have time at home to practice telling time it's a quick and easy skill to practice in the car and on the go.
Next week we will have a return to our normal Tuesday schedule and the Arabic Mother's Association will be hosting a book fair in the elementary presentation room. We will also begin a new math unit focused on place value and wrap up our current writing and reading units.
Ms. Catherine Bae will be joining our class mid week to start to get the hang of our day to day routines. You will be receiving more information about my upcoming absence and our lovely supply teacher Ms. Cath early next week. In the mean time, feel free to say hi as you see her around dismissal times.
Our Math coordinator Ms. Little will be hosting a talk about our upcoming place value unit on Jan. 17th. Shortly following this email you will receive a google form to sign up to attend the talk. This is a great opportunity to better understand our math curriculum and learn more about how to best help students build their numeracy skills at home.
New Entry to Campus Procedures
Starting January 17th, 2016 there will be some changes for students and parents entering the ASD Campus supporting student safety.
All students will be required to scan their Dragon Wristband entering and exiting the campus. It is recommended that you remind your child to wear their wristband daily. Replacement Dragon bands may be purchased at the front desk of the Administrative entrance for 50 qr. Wristbands will be distributed to Lower Elementary Students next week by their teachers. Your child's dragon band will be labeled with their name by a key tag. We kindly ask parents to keep this label on the wristband for easy identification.
Parents and domestic staff will not be permitted through Gate 5 for morning drop off. Students may enter through Gate 5 using their wristbands and teachers will be there to supervise starting at 7:40 AM. Parents wishing to accompany their children to classes are asked to enter through Gates 8 & 10.
Pick-up procedures will remain the same, parents will be able to enter and exit the campus through Gate 5 from 2:45 - 4:15 PM. Pick up procedures for PACT Tuesdays and our Pre-K Students will also remain the same, parents will be able to enter through Gate 5 at 12:15 PM.
We kindly ask parents and guests to enter through Gate 8 during the school day.
We thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we work to keep our school safe and continue the improvements to the ASD campus.
Sincerely,
Ms. D
