Preparing to Return

April 5, 2021

Dear Families,

Under the direction of the New Mexico Public Education Department, NMPED, Red River Valley Charter School will resume in person learning on April 5, 2021. We need your help to ensure that students and staff remain safe and healthy for the remainder of the school year and into the summer break.

1. Please speak with your child(ren) each day before sending them to school on the bus, trolley, or in your personal vehicle. Please keep your child(ren) home if they are experiencing any of the following:

  • Fever (100 or higher)
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Recent loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion-including stuffy nose and/or drainage
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

2. Please keep your child(ren) home if they have had contact with anyone that you know has/have COVID-19 or COVID like symptoms within the past 14 days? Contact is defined as being within 6 feet or closer for more than 15 minutes with a person, or having direct contact with fluids (cough on and/or sneezed on are examples) form a person with COVID-19. Please do not send your child(ren) to school if they are ill.

3. If you, a family member in the same house, or your child(ren) test positive for COVID-19 or if you are waiting for test results, please remain home to ensure other students and staff remain safe from infection.

4. In person learning will take place from 8:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. and students in the online learning setting will check in throughout the in person school. Additional support will be available from 2:30-4:00p.m. for all students regardless of in person/online setting. Students who are attending in person learning are expected to bring a mask and to wear the mask for the duration of the in person school day except when eating or drinking at designated times throughout the school day.

We understand the great responsibility that we have to ensure the safety of our students and staff and we need your help to keep our campus and the spread of COVID-19 at bay. If your child(ren) need to stay home because of exposure to COVID-19, the teachers and staff will work with him/her in the online setting.

Thank you for your help and dedication to the success of all of our students and staff.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Ritterhouse

Bus Reminder/Trolley

Bus to and from Questa

Students are allowed to load the bus after parents have asked the COVID-19 screener questions and the students are not showing any of the symptoms.

Before loading the bus, students will use hand sanitizer (provided by the bus driver), ensure that their mask is securely in place, and then enter the bus.

Siblings will sit together and those who do not have a sibling to sit with will either sit alone, or sit with a classmate.

Ms. Parker will monitor the bus both in the morning and in the afternoon. She will load the bus at the Cerro Church for the first few days back to school and then she will transition to loading the bus at the Parish Center.

Martinez bus service will clean/disinfect the bus both in the morning and in the afternoon.

  • Parish Center 7:25

Afternoon drop off:

  • Parish Center 2:25
  • Pendleton 2:30
  • Cerro Church 2:35

Trolley in Red River

Students are allowed to load the trolley after parents have asked the COVID-19 screener questions and the students are not showing any of the symptoms.

Before loading the trolley, students will use hand sanitizer (provided by the trolley driver), ensure that their mask is securely in place, and then enter the bus.

Siblings will sit together and those who do not have a sibling to sit with will either sit alone, or sit with a classmate.

The town trolley is allowed to have four riders at a time. Due to limited number of people allowed on the trolley at one time, please bring your child(ren) to school, if possible.

Students are allowed to enter campus at 7:45a.m. Teachers will receive students in their classrooms beginning at 7:45a.m. Please be cognizant of the drop off time because mornings for teachers will be used to prepare for the school day (both in person and online learning).

Weekly Food Pick Up

For families who chose to keep their students in the online learning format and who receive weekly food distribution, should be ready to accept delivery of the weekly food allotment on Monday afternoon (2:25p.m.) at the Parish Center. Please make arrangements to pick up the food or call the office to cancel delivery before 8:00a.m. on Monday. The bus driver will not be able to wait on Monday afternoon, as he will have the bus route to complete.

Students who are in in person learning will receive breakfast, lunch, and snack while on campus.
