A grateful heart...
My heart is grateful for....
...Karen Blackwell, who is still mentoring a student who was in her 3rd grade class 8 years ago. She developed a really strong bond with this young man, and even now she and Bob will go to his workplace and pick him up at the end of his shift to take him home. Even at midnight! That kind of relationship is immeasurably important and priceless to that student....Laura Fillmore, who rode to the hospital with a student this week. Typically, an administrator rides along if the parent is unavailable, but Laura has such a strong relationship with this student that we all agreed it would be best for her to go. She was able to calm him while he underwent a scary incident without his mom.
....Angela Harris, who not only had to be very flexible about where her room was (and wasn't) going to be, has already jumped in with both feet offering to help in numerous ways as she's getting up and rolling.
....Julie Lee, who is always ready to say yes when asked! She agreed to be on a big committee for the district this year and even asked to be on CEC!
...a really great first two weeks. There have been a few bumps, but nothing major and it's been exciting to be able to visit classrooms to see the work that is already happening.

Goal setting
Learning Targets
In fifth grade, they are writing that as "I can" and "We Will" statements, as in "I can create and plot data on a graph" and "we will create a stem and leaf plot representing our favorite activities."
Please be sure you not only post I can statements (which you can often find in curriculum documents) but that you refer to them throughout the lesson. When you meet with small groups, each small group may have a slightly different objective so be sure and talk to them about what their learning target is for that group time.

Notification
We try very hard to be flexible about your need to leave for appointments or emergencies because we know that all of you work extra hours and do extra things and we appreciate those efforts from you. In return, I think it's only fair that you take the time to let us know when and where you are going to be.
ADHD video-
This segment discusses self regulation and the inability to stay committed to a goal due to ADHD. It is about 9 and a half minutes long. (2ALL)
