Madison County - Cafeteria Charge Policy effective March 1, 2018

It is the policy of Madison County Schools to allow all students to charge meals when they have forgotten their meal money. Negative balances are to be paid by the last student day of the school year. No charges are allowed the month of May, to enable everyone time to clear debt. In May, Pk-8 students without breakfast or lunch money will be offered an alternate meal consisting of Cereal and Milk for breakfast and PB & J or Cheese sandwich, fruit, and milk for lunch. No alternate meal is provided to students in grades 9-12.

RIS PTA First Aid Kits

Each year, our school system is required to conduct emergency practice
drills. The teachers are also surveyed in order to find out if there
are needs and supplies to ensure the safety of ALL of our students.
Safety is our first priority so we need the help of the RIS community
and surrounding area with Emergency Backpacks/First Aid Backpacks. Our
goal is to have “much needed” First Aid supplies in place for
emergency situations such as severe weather, lockdowns, fire and/or
any hazardous disasters.
By partnering with us, your contribution towards our Emergency/First
Aid Backpacks will help teachers immeasurably during any unsuspecting
emergency situation. These Emergency/First Aid Backpacks will reduce
the anxiety of unpreparedness and provide quick access to First Aid
supplies during any given emergency situations that should arise at
Riverton Intermediate School. According to our most recent Emergency
Staff Skills Survey & Inventory, many of our teachers indicated a need
for the following items in order for them to feel more prepared should
a disaster strike while at school:

Flashlights
Ibuprofen
Paper towels
Hand sanitizer
Clorox Wipes
Batteries
Band aids
Gloves
Gauze roll
Medical tape (waterproof)
Triple antibiotic ointment
Peroxide
Alcohol/alcohol wipes
Tweezers
Vaseline
backpack (for the supplies)

Each bag will have a tag with the emergency symbol/teacher names*
School provided*
Rings to attach tags to backpacks*PTA provided*
Red/green flags (front/back) to indicate (green-all is well or
red-there's a problem)
*Can be laminated construction paper* PTA will provide the paper,
lamination done at the school

The RIS PTA is has started the campaign off with 2 full backpacks (please see the pictures below to get an idea)

If you would like to donate a backpack full of supplies, make a
monetary donation for the PTA to purchase a backpack and supplies, or
if you would like to donate any individual supplies, please PM me,
email us at 20172018rispta@gmail.com, or drop off your contribution at
the RIS front desk.

PROCEDURE TO ENTER THE SCHOOL

RIS has implemented a security system in which you have to be buzzed into the school by the front office. The camera and speaker is located on the far right door. Here is how it will work: 1 - Turn towards the camera and press the button. 2 - Explain the purpose of your visit. You must have your ID with you. 3 - Front desk will buzz you through the door (far right). This procedure will also apply to after school care.

Car Rider Guidelines

1. Hang the number(s) on the rear view mirror, or hold it upright for the carline controller to see. (If it is lying flat on the dashboard, behind a decal, or _behind the upper shaded windshield, it is not visible.)

2. Refrain from using cell phone in car line.

3. If picking up more than one child, display all numbers at the same time, in a horizontal fashion. NOT one at a time.

4. If you do not have your car line number, park and go to the front office to check out your child.

5. Show only one number needed per child. The extra number should be removed, and used for others who may pick up your child.

6. Remember that we are a no tobacco campus. Please do not smoke in the car rider line.
