Centerview families,
I was reading over fall break and came upon a quote from Dov Seidman that resonated with me. Let me share with you; “When you press the pause button on a machine, it stops. But, when you press the pause button on a human, they start.”
After two months into the school year, fall break was a pause and a time to rejuvenate and GET READY for our next steps in learning at Centerview. My hope is that students, staff and families feel positive at this point and have settled in with a routine, clear line of communication and a partnership for learning.
Our $5 from 5 People FUNdraiser envelopes are coming in. THANK YOU Centerview families for your efforts to support and increase student engagement and create more opportunities for success for our Centerview students. In case you missed it, please see below for a reiteration of information pertinent to the FUNraiser FUNrun.
The weather has changed the upcoming calendar for the Centerview FUNraiser FUNrun! With the rain that will come our way this Thursday, we’ll be switching days and holding our annual FUNraiser FUNrun on FRIDAY, October 29. It looks like typical fall weather on FRIDAY…which is good! Students can dress in their cardio attire: gym and workout gear, running apparel, sweatbands and workout sneakers!
ALL families are welcome to join the FUNrun event to cheer our students on. If you’d like to participate, please meet us outdoors on our SLP turf fields just northeast of Centerview Elementary. Due to COVID protocols, families will not be allowed inside the building.
Here are the grade level FUNraiser FUNrun times:
- 9:30-10 a.m. – 1st Grade
- 10:15-10:45 a.m. – Kindergarten
- 11-11:30 a.m. – 4th Grade
- 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. – Pre-school/Discovery Days
- 1-1:30 p.m. – Pre-school/Discovery Days
- 1:45-2:15 p.m. – 3rd Grade
- 2:30-3 p.m. – 2nd Grade
It’s a short time and might seem like a long time…however, let’s SEIZE the opportunity and RUN-FOR-FUN! Yes, you can also walk. Looking forward to seeing YOU all!
My best,
Mike
Watch for an email request: Information needed by the state of Minnesota
Families will be receiving individual requests in the next few days to complete information for their student/family based on new requirements from the state of Minnesota. The information requested covers ethnicity and race as well as student access to Internet and electronic devices at home. The information schools report to the state and federal government is confidential and not identifiable at the individual level.
Watch for an email from info@campus.district16.org with the subject line "Update student information by Nov. 30" that will arrive in the next few days with instructions for completing the requested information in Campus Parent Portal. The process should take less than 5 minutes to complete.
Optional, rapid COVID-19 now available in all schools
Each of our school health offices now has the ability to conduct rapid COVID-19 tests, Cue Test, during school hours each day. The tests provide reliable results in about 30 minutes. In-district rapid testing is one way we can limit school absences for those who are symptomatic or have had close contacts with a positive case in school or outside of school.
Rapid testing is available during the school day at each school health office. Testing is also available after school this week during limited hours at the District Service Center and can be coordinated through your school’s health office. School nurses will communicate directly with families to determine eligibility and secure consent before any testing is completed.
To inquire about the rapid testing for your student due to symptoms or potential exposures, contact your school’s health office.
We also continue to offer optional, free COVID-19 testing kits to take home. Students can pick up the saliva testing kits in the health office, complete the test at home and return their completed test the following school day. School nurses submit the tests for processing.
Masks and Water bottles!
The filling stations for water bottles are on but the water fountains are off.
Book Fair is coming next week!
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school. After missing out on many beloved traditions last year, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome and safe event for our students.
Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place Monday, November 1-Friday, November 5.
- Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends and others can contribute, too!
- If your student can't make it to the Book Fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:
