The Power of Culture at Mountainburg Public Schools
What is culture and why is it important?
Our core beliefs provide the standards for how we behave toward each other, our students, and our community. Because our culture shapes behavior and our behavior reinforces culture, it determines how effectively we execute our strategy.
Our success depends on our ability to collaborate and execute a constantly changing environment. Culture aligns everyone in our district around a common set of shared beliefs and behaviors that ultimately determine how we prepare our students for life.
Becoming Dragon Strong
Students - Take ownership of and pride in being a DRAGON.
Patrons in the Mountainburg School District - Support each DRAGON: Administration, School Board, Teachers, Students, Staff, and the District as a whole.
Our mindset can and will determine our progress, pandemic or no pandemic. Over the next several weeks, you will be hearing and reading about the exciting plans in store for Mountainburg Schools. It will take all of us working together to be DRAGON STRONG.

Get Ready to Build Your Own Library
FACS Students and the Infant Simulators
The simulators are highly computerized and designed to simulate several real-life scenarios. These babies are highly sensitive to touch, being changed, fed burped, radiant temperature and rocking. The infant simulators will not only be used in the FACS class parenting unit, but will also be used in the Financial Literacy course as students will need to document each time they need food, diapers or other items, the cost of those items, and how they would budget or such expenses and how much this accumulates over a period of time.
Both classes will have very exciting lessons using these amazing little robots that even the teachers are falling in love with. Just look at the smile on Mrs. Christian's face!!
Experiences with the Infant Simulators
Trinity Graves
"I am so attached to this baby, I mean like for real. But after last night I am done! It woke me up all through the night and I am trying to cover up her speaker so that she doesn't wake up my family. I am so tired today I feel like I could just drop. I know for a fact that I am in no way ready to have a kid while in high school."

Ms. Burnett Receives a Grant for MHS
Mountainburg High School Science teacher, Meredith Burnett, received a Wildlife Education Grant in the amount of $2500 provided by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Division of Rural Services
Ms. Burnett and her classes will create an outdoor classroom with water feature. This project is a student lead venture exploring hands-on activities while studying topics such as water quality, stewardship, and species interactions to name a few. Creating and maintaining a pondless pond will include investigating fresh water, its properties, its unique role in earth systems on a local level, and intricate support of various life forms. The plant beds will allow students to delve in to environmental awareness, nature's recycling program, and practice problem-solving skills.
MHS Electives Fair

The Truth According to Blue
"Get excited, Otis. We're about to change the course of history, you and me."
This week we are introduced to Blue and Otis, her diabetes service dog. Blue lives in the Hamptons and just finished 7th grade. She is your normal 7th grade girl, except that she deals with diabetes. It is Otis’s job to be with her at all times and let her know if her blood sugar drops too high or too low.
Blue got a little behind in one of her classes and has to complete an extra project in order to finish the year, but her real plan is to find a lost treasure. However, she gets stuck having to show the new girl in town around, which makes it harder for the pair to begin their adventure in secret.
Join me next week to see how her hunt progresses. -Mrs. Brown
