News from Dr. Cappucci
A huge Thank you to Teachers!
All Assignments are now required, but only one assignment will receive feedback and that assignment will be labeled feedback.
You will notice two significant changes with remote learning. The first is that there is now an expectation that students will engage in the learning opportunities outlined for them by their teachers. To support this change, teachers have been sending home multiple assignments. One assignment is labeled Feedback and that is the one assignment that will be given feedback. All other assignments are due as well. They are not optional.
In grades 3-5, remote learning lessons will focus primarily on reviewing and deepening skills and understanding of content already taught with a few lessons focused on introducing new skills and content. This means that most of the lessons will focus on review, and teachers are asked to have at least 70% of their remote learning lessons focused on reviewing and deepening students' skills and knowledge of material already taught. Elementary teachers are also asked to have no more than 30% of their remote learning lessons focus on new skills and new content as aligned with the applicable curriculum framework. Students will be asked to submit work during the course of the week to demonstrate that they are participating in assigned remote learning lessons and making an effort to demonstrate their best work. Once again, classroom teachers will provide more details related to work submission for their classes.
Remember a few minutes of a brain break can get your children focused and back to work.

Sometimes just switching to an art, music, or gym activity will get your children ready to complete another assignment.

* For all grade levels
It is imperative that students are now logging into Google classrooms. All grade levels have worked together to keep our students engaged and motivated in their work. The easiest way students can access their Google Classroom is through Clever (https://www.clever.com/in/wrsdk12)or the Chrome app. Google Classroom can also be accessed at classroom.google.com. If using the latter, you will need to request the classroom code from your child’s home room teacher.
* This is another important announcement. We have realized that you are getting an email every time we post an assignment -- this can make things very confusing! Here is how to stop that from happening:
1) Click on the three lines in the top left corner of the window.
2) On the tab that opens up, click on "Settings."
3) Scroll down and uncheck "work and other posts from teachers."
4) You can also uncheck "due date reminders for your work."
5) If your parents joined our classroom, please let them know they can do this as well.
LEAVE THE OTHER THINGS CHECKED. That way you can still receive work and comments from us. Let us know if you have any questions!
*Most of our students continue to work everyday and teachers are excited to see their progress. If your child is struggling to complete assignments, please reach out to classroom teachers or me. I would be happy to talk to any child that is having a difficult time.
The district's Remote learning plan is on the district website.

In the fall Mrs. Bartlett's math classes planted bulbs that were donated by the Holden Grange.
Mrs. Groll created a video of staff at Glenwood when they were younger and today. Please enjoy this video! Can you guess who the person is before it pops up?
We are all missing being together at Glenwood right now.

The Root-Simone Family
Here are some pictures of treasures from our walk at Moore State Park. My daughter was taking photos for her art class.
The pine tree has some interesting rot resistant branch structures and the log roll revealed a redback salamander. Some people were flying a kite on the big hill- it reminded me of the story fourth grade is reading about Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.
Thunderbear and the Dumas Family
Do you like to listen to music when you go to sleep?
Maybe sounds of the ocean or rain helps you to sleep.
Mrs. Dumas and her daughter, Julia, thanked first responders in Sturbridge.
Stark Family
Mr. Stark found half the rack of an 8-point buck in our yard (near the woods). I wonder if the students know that male deer (bucks) lose their antlers in the spring?
This is the first we've found in 18 years of living here.
