MUSTANG MEMO
November 29-December 3, 2021
Principal's Message
Advent marks the beginning of our liturgical year and we welcome the opportunity to prepare for the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, with wonder and delight. Our hearts are filled with anticipation and JOY. The season of Advent provides us with many opportunities to reflect on God’s LOVE and mercy, grow in our FAITH and share HOPE through prayer and service.
We look forward to the many Advent traditions at Mary Our Queen School. The activities, events and sacraments experienced over the next few weeks help us to prepare and live Advent to the fullest. Needless to say, it is a busy time of year and we want to make sure we keep our hearts and minds focused on Jesus.
Each morning during announcements we will reflect on “Names of Jesus” and build a special display in the school lobby.
We set up the nativity creche in the school lobby – symbolizing the Advent journey and anticipating the joy the birth of Jesus will bring.
Advent wreaths can be found in every classroom – each wreath with four candles representing a gift of Advent – hope, faith, joy and peace.
The Jr. High Houses are organizing the Advent service project to support the Mary Our Queen Family Christmas Project.
Students in grades 3-8 have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
Our second graders receive their first Reconciliation on Dec. 6.
We celebrate the Feast of St. Nicholas on Dec. 6 with a special surprise.
Our all school Masses for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception honor our patron saint – Mary.
Students are very busy rehearsing for the Christmas Cantata - filling our school with beautiful music.
As Advent progresses and the number of days to Christmas decreases, we pray that our students and families have the opportunity to experience Advent and Christmas through eyes of mercy and eyes of faith.

Christmas Cantata 2021
We are very excited to gather together for the 2021 Christmas Cantata - Spreading the Good News. While we are back together for an in-person show this year, we are making some accommodations to ensure the safety of our community. The program and grades will be divided into two nights. The program will be in the school gym and begin at 6:30 PM each night.
Wednesday, December 8: Grades Kindergarten, 1, 2 and 6
Thursday, December 9: Grades 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8
Cantata Dress Guidelines: Cantata is a special "dress up" performance. Students should wear holiday or church attire. No "ugly" Christmas sweaters, shirts with writing, or neon colors. (Students in 3rd grade and 8th grade will receive specific dress instructions for their performances.)
This year, we are not able to provide a daytime dress rehearsal performance option for our community. However, both evening programs will be live streamed. A link to the live streams will be shared in next week's Mustang Memo.

Extended Care
Thank you for filling out the December Calendar. If you need to add or delete dates, please email extendedcare@moqschool.org.
With the weather turning cooler, please be sure to send jackets/hats/gloves. We will be going outdoors even when it is cold. All students need to be prepared for the conditions.
If you are clearing out old toys and making room for Santa's delivery, we are in need of Barbie clothes, Barbies, action figures, etc., and a toy garage for our cars. We are also looking for clean dry, baby food jars with lids and spaghetti sauce size jars with lids to be used for crafts at Summer Care.
Break Care is a fun option for the kids when school is out! We make Slime, take walking field trips and play all day! We have a good time, and the kids make great memories! We have several dates in December for break care. Please click HERE for a chart of break care dates and the last sign-up date to ensure the lowest rate.
