Newsletter Week 10, Term 3 2021
St Joseph's Catholic School Morrinsville September 28th 2021
Principal's Message
Daylight Savings has happened and it so feels like Spring! We are so thankful for all of the blessings we have at our school.
On Wednesday, our senior students are fortunate to be able to attend Sports Camp. This is taking place under very strict level 2 conditions. We know that the students and teachers are just so excited to be able to attend. Of course, this was supposed to take place earlier in the term but Covid delayed the plans. Have a fantastic time team and give it your all!
Last Thursday we hosted a Hamilton Catholic Kahui Ako Meeting at our school (in the Parish Centre). 15 Principals from our Catholic Schools across the Waikato attended. We spoke about our joint Teacher Only Day next year, as well as other key aspects on raising and supporting student achievement and well-being. They spoke so highly of our school environment as we were super proud to showcase our school.
Did you know that we have a Gardening Club? A group of very enthusiastic student gardeners work with Meredith Vowles and Courtney Thomson, to plant, grow and tend to the vegetables. It is such a great way to nurture our environment as well as to learn such import skills. Check out the size of our veggies!
Term 4 is going to be upon us very quickly. It is an extremely short term (8.5 weeks) and will be over in a heartbeat. We have an action packed calendar with activities such as Livestock Day, Scripture Reading and Mission Day taking place in the first few weeks. Athletics practice is going to start right away, so make sure that PE gear and hats are packed int those school bags. We have an Accord Day on Monday 8 November. This is a Teacher Only Day and alternative childcare arrangements will need to be made. Just giving you a heads up!
Just remember that we have our Scrap Metal Drive on Saturday 16 October. We really need your help and support for this fundraiser. Please fill in the questionnaire in this newsletter, to indicae how you can help. Many hands make light work.
Have a well deserved term break. It is time to refresh and re-energise. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 18 October.
God Bless you and your whānau.
Andrea Colebourn, Principal
Thank you Subway Morrinsville!
Catholic Schools' Day
On Wednesday 29 September we celebrate Catholic Schools Day.
Foundations and connections to faith are strengthened in our Catholic schools
which are an integral part of the wider Church. It is here that children, their
whānau, and teachers strengthen their sense of what it means to be Catholic
and belonging to parish. School and parish become tūrangawaewae.
