An Encouraging Note from a Parent
We received the following note from a parent of one of our middle school boys. It serves as a great reminder of why we do what we do!
Sam said you told him coming to study was an answer to your prayers. That really made him feel special. We can’t thank you enough for the Godly work you guys are investing into the kids. Sam is having the hardest soccer season of his life. A new coach, new team and the coach is being pretty awful to him. Sam is so passionate about soccer and this guy is really stealing that. (Although we know it’s spiritual and that the devil is trying to steal his joy!) So, thank you for reminding him that he is wanted and fits there.
Middle school can be a difficult time for young people as they go through so many changes in their lives emotionally, physically and socially. Wyldlife Club, and especially Campaigners, has had a positive impact on these students.
Another Great Kickoff Club!
On Thursday, September 5th we held our Kickoff Club to start another school year of our college leaders ministering to middle school students. Since we ended last year with what we called Messy Club (basically games that involved students and leaders getting messy with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, etc.), we decided to start this year off with Clean Club, which will involve in getting “clean” (games involving water such as slip and slide, sponge dodgeball, etc.). The snack for the evening was Chick-fil-a nuggets. We ended the evening with a talk by Gina, one of our college leaders, focused on Jeremiah 29: 13, where God says “ ‘You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart.’” Her talk challenged each of us to seek after God and put Him first in our lives. She gave great examples from her own middle school days about how hard it can be to keep seeking God in our culture.
Campaigners!
Campaigners is the name for our weekly Bible study for the Wyldlife middle school students. This study serves as an opportunity for the kids to go deeper with God and build closer relationships with one another. Shannon has been leading the study as it meets every other week opposite our larger Club meetings. In addition to spending time in God’s Word, the kids also have the opportunity to ask for prayer, have a snack as well as some game time. They have been very attentive in the study and always ask good questions, and are very open about themselves and their lives. This study has been going great and has been very well attended (usually 8-12 students per week)! Now that our college leaders are back in town they will begin leading Campaigners.
Prayer Requests
Thanks for partnering with us! You are an invaluable part of God’s work at DePauw and the surrounding community and are making all of this possible. May God richly bless you for blessing Him!
In Christ,
