Leadership Team Meeting: Monday October 17 3:15 in the Library
Conferences: Please let us know if you have not be able to schedule a parent/teacher conference with someone. We will assist in getting the parents to respond. it is important the we meet with a parent / guardian from each student- especially struggling learners. If you need assistance with meeting with the parents of our second language learners, please contact Ms. Hill. Please turn your conference forms in to Pat.
Choir Concert: Tuesday night the choir will be performing with the Hill Choir in our cafeteria. Please join us in watching the students as they shine! The concert begins at 7:00 pm.
P.E:
Coach Mosby will be presenting Safe Routes to School program (an opportunity to make walking and bicycling to school safer) starting on Friday, October 21 and continuing through Tuesday, October 25. This program will be presented during PE class.

Open Insurance Enrollment through October 31
Open Enrollment for benefit plans started last week and runs through October 31st. All plans will be effective January 1, 2017.
Enrollment is MANDATORY for ALL employees. NO coverage will automatically roll over next year.
You must enroll if you want to be covered for any benefit in 2017.
Three ways to enroll:
- Online inside the AISD FIREWALL at boltemployee.austinisd.org (USE FIREFOX)
- Call Center: 1-855-245-1168 (7:00am-10:00pm)
- Onsite with an enroller when AISD visits your campus on October 24!
Retirement representatives will be onsite with enrollers for you to learn about your
retirement choices outside of TRS.
LIVESTRONG Challenge October 16
The PTA has a Healthy Lifestyles' Event they would love share with the staff.
The healthy lifestyles committee works to provide opportunities for students, teachers, and their families to make heathy choices, participate in healthy activities, and learn healthy behaviors. This year we will be featuring family-friendly events happening around Austin. In October, a Doss Owls team will be participating in the LIVESTRONG Challenge. The event has a 5K option for athletes of all levels. This is a course downtown, and the run supports the LIVESTRONG Foundation. GT UPDATE:
If you have a student who is being screened for GT: Oct. 17 - Nov. 11 is the window for Teacher Observation and Collection of work samples. Work samples can be taken from the beginning of school year until Nov. 11.
You will receive in your boxes by Monday, 10/17 a folder for each student being tested with the following:
- information on how to complete and submit the Teacher Observation Survey
- information about collecting work samples for portfolio and the common assessments

- K-2 - Oct. 18, 19, 20 - 8:30 - 9:30 - I will come get them around 8:20.

Computer Lab Schedule and News
It’s time again for our annual verification of Digital Citizenship. We will utilize the same training as last year to provide age-appropriate lessons to all students. You can teach the lesson in the computer lab, in your classroom, or you can teach the lesson yourself.
Additionally, all teachers are required to take the Cyber Safety in Austin ISD:Online (82164). You access it through HCP on the AISD cloud.
Both the teacher training and student training must be completed before Thanksgiving.
