Outstanding Students

Our Outstanding Students program recognizes students who go above and beyond to make our school a great place. Teachers choose one student from each grade level who deserves recognition. The students who are chosen receive a Sonic drink of their choice, get their name on the marquee, and are recognized in the VAMS newsletter. We would like to congratulate the following students for making our school a great place to be:

Ella Storment - 5th Grade

Sean Wilson- 6th Grade

Charisma White - 7th Grade

David Mercer - 8th Grade

Way to go! You make us proud!

Parent Survey Areas of Focus

As a result of the parent survey data and comments on the survey, we have several areas we are focusing on this year, including:

  • Regular, meaningful technology use
  • Proactive academic communication- Bi-Weekly grade level newsletters, Grade level Remind account
  • Increasing the rigor, or the challenge level of our classes

School-wide Fundraiser Information

Tuesday all fundraiser orders and money are do, so please be sure your child brings them back to school. We appreciate your support of our campus-wide fundraiser. Due to you and your child's efforts, we are able to take our qualifying STAR Card students (200+ students) on an end-of-the-year trip, give money to each grade level to help pay for field trips or things for their classroom, purchase various items for our students, etc. None of this would be possible without your help.

Important Honors Information for 7th Grade Parents

Our goal this year was to provide more honors sections for our 7th and 8th grade students. While we were successful in accomplishing this goal, it has caused us to have very crowded 8th grade classes. This is due to the fact we have six 7th grade core teachers (5 core areas with two coaches teaching history), and only four 8th grade teachers (reading and ELA are combined and we only have one history teacher). Because of this we will more than likely be moving back to having only one honors section for each subject in 8th grade. As a result, students who are in honors classes this year may very well be in a regular class as an 8th grader. We will take the highest 24 students based on their final grade in this year's class, scores on an entrance exam, and on their STAAR/ quarterly exam scores. If you have any questions, you can contact Mr. Coleman at 903-482-8804. Thank you for understanding.

Volunteer Approval Form

All volunteers, including parents, have to fill out a Volunteer Approval Form to have a background check before volunteering (ex: attend field trips, volunteer on campus, help with testing, etc.). The entire process, from submitting the form to receiving approval, can take as long as two weeks. This process must be completed before being approved to volunteer. If you have students at multiple schools, only one application is required.

Click HERE to access the Volunteer Approval Form. We appreciate our volunteers!
