The Board of Education provides a "Board Meeting Summary" after each Board meeting. The summary includes a brief description of the main topics and action items. These summaries are not meant to replace minutes. The minutes for each meeting are approved and posted after the next regularly scheduled meeting. We hope these summaries provide some basic information and context around the reports, presentations and action items. Hadley Junior High School 8th grader students Abigail Herbold and Ashlynn Kousgaard were seated as student representatives on the Board of Education.

  • A celebration video was presented about all of the service projects that happened throughout the district during the holiday season and over winter break.

  • Dr. Kaczkowski shared an update about her first year entry plan. She went through each of her goals and shared what she has learned. She also highlighted next steps in the plan including a strategic planning process.

  • Humanex
    Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Marci Conlin provided an overview of the results of the annual staff climate and culture survey. Board members asked questions and discussed the data.


Discussion

  • Long Term Substitute Rate of Pay for Hard to Fill Positions | watch
    Mrs. Conlin provided information about the difficulty finding people for long-term substitute positions. This is a challenge for districts nation-wide.
  • Renewal of In-District Special Education Transportation | watch
    Assistant Superintendent for Finance, Facilities and Operations Eric DePorter explained that a two year extension to the special education transportation contract will be coming to the Board for approval.
  • Board Policy Revisions | watch
    The Board of Education Policy Committee has been reviewing a large number of recommended policy revisions presented by the Illinois Association of School Boards PRESS (Policy Reference Education Subscription Service) for consideration. Superintendent Kaczkowski gave an overview of the types of revisions and took questions from the Board. Legal Council Todd Faulkner also joined the conversation and answered questions.
