Math:
Friday is the end of the marking period! Grades 1-5 will be taking
the district assessments this week. Don't forget to use the reviews provided by the Math Office. Give yourself time to use them as an instructional tool to guide instruction so your students are ready for the assessment. We will score them as a team this week! If you haven't gotten a calendar invite yet, be on the look out! Grades 3-5 will be using the chromebooks on testing days so be prepared to have an alternate plan for technology. Primary teachers will have collaborative planning this week on different days due the assessment schedule. I will reach out to each grade level individually to see what day will work best for your team! Thank you for making math important in your classroom and to your students!
Reading Updates:
We made it through Halloween week! This week we will be planning with Intermediate grades and focusing on SLOs. Thank you all for being so flexible as we started primary intervention groups and worked out some kinks. We are meeting on Thursday to discuss other Wilson and Mondo interventions so those should be starting soon! Thank you for always staying focused on what is best for kids!
Social & Emotional Updates:
It is close to the beginning of second marking period. As you are planning consider adding in time to reteach rules, revisit missions statements, update your Dojo Store. Dojo points are only effective if the students can earn something. If you have a student out for 2 days in a row, please contact home and check in to see if there is anything we can do to support them. We are having an attendance party on November 21st. Please remember to submit your honors students. Principal honor roll students have all A’s. Honor Roll has all As and Bs and one C.

As the Quarter ends, reflect on the how you can support failing students before the quarter ends. Have you given an opportunity for re-test? Have you used a Flex Day for re-teaching? Always reflect on your instruction. We need to close the gaps.. Please read the schedule below:
- November 8th, Last Day of First Quarter ( all assignments must be in your grade book)
- November 11th-14th Report Card Prep
- November 14th @2:00 Pm Report Cards are due
- November 15th Report Cards are returned for review
- November 16th Report Cards are sent home
Instruction Highlights/Thoughts
- Please review the Teacher and Learning Rubric to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is expected. For example..
- Diversity ( are you using videos with diversity, do have students of color highlighted in your room, do you have student work posted, in and out of your classroom,) See Tammy, she has nailed this every year in her observations.
- Connections ( how are you connecting the lesson to real world, are you taking 3-5 minutes to make the connection) See Joe- Fractions and Gas mileage, he nailed this in his observation.
- Check out the pictures from the 4th Grade Arts integration Lessons. Please see Casey or Leah ( Leah is our lead from the AEMI Grant) for ideas. They are truly gifted.

Noise Levels
Hi all,
Just wanted to send out a quick reminder about both discretion and noise level in the hallways. The unfortunate and unavoidable result of having an open-plan library is that it's very difficult to do morning announcements and read-alouds when classes are walking by and being noisy, or when staff are having loud conversations in the hall. Additionally, please remember that sound carries across the bookshelves, and that confidential conversations about students are sometimes very audible from the library, especially when you're standing at the copier. I know it can be tough to keep classes quiet during transitions, so I appreciate your help. It makes the library experience much more positive for students when they're not being distracted by hallway noise. Thank you!
