Wrestling Program Qualifies Seven For State Tournament
The Boys Wrestling program took to the mat on Friday and Saturday at Holt to compete in the District Tournament. Our Vikings were well represented in the finals and qualified five for the State Tournament this coming weekend. Eric Lovelace, Josh Kyle and Cole Litteken all brought home championships at their respective weight classes. Ryan Skillington finished second and Hayden Trezek finished fourth.
Last weekend the Girls Wrestling program competed in their District Tournament and advanced both Emily Eberwine and Dani Lindsey with their runner up finishes. This is the first year that the MSHSAA has offered girls wrestling and Emily and Dani will be the first to represent Howell at the State Tournament this weekend.
Congratulations again to our seven State Qualifiers that will represent Howell at the State Tournament!

Student-Athlete College Signings Reach 27 For Class Of 2019
Over the course of the past four years, Howell programs have had over 250 student-participants move on to compete in their activity or sport at the college level. On Wednesday, the Class of 2019 added several college signings to a list of 27 that will be furthering their education and sport at the college level. Not only has this group excelled in their sport but they have also had success in the classroom. The 27 young men and women that have signed currently hold a cumulative high school GPA of over 3.5. Congratulations to the new #HowellSigned students below!
We hope all Viking students and fans join us on April 17th for our 5th Annual Signing Day Ceremony when we recognize our college bound student-participants. The list will continue to grow and we look forward to celebrating another large group that will carry on the Howell tradition of competing at the college level.

Boys Basketball Clinches 5th Straight Conference Championship & 5th Straight 20 Win Season
Congratulations to the Boys Basketball program on clinching the GAC South Championship with an impressive win over FHN. This is the 9th conference championship of the 2018-19 season for Howell programs. This is the fifth straight year the Vikings have won the conference championship. The win was the 20th of the season and added a fifth straight 20 win season to the programs resume. Over the course of the past five seasons our Boys Basketball program has had an impressive run. Congratulations to the Boys Basketball program and good luck as they prepare for Districts!

Girls Swim Finishes 3rd At GAC South Meet
The Girls Swim program turned out several strong performances over the course of the two day GAC South Meet at the Rec Plex last week. As a team our Lady Vikings finished 3rd and along the way set many indiviual and relay PR's. Congratulations to the Girls Swim program and to the following swimmers for reaching the finals and finishing in the top eight! The girls swim program will have several competing at the State Meet this coming weekend. We look forward to sharing our State Qualifiers with Viking fans when the information becomes available early this week!

These students will advance to state level competition at the State DECA Career Development Conference that will be held March 24-26 2019 at the Crown Center in Kansas City Missouri.
DECA competitive events are designed to contribute to the development of competencies needed for careers in marketing, management and merchandising, to motivate students to assume responsibility for self-improvement and self-discipline, to assist students in acquiring a realistic self-concept through individual and group activities and to provide visibility for the educational goals and objectives of marketing education.
DECA is the only international organization specifically designed to reinforce the occupational competencies of high school students who wish to pursue a career in marketing, merchandising or management. Over 180,000 students from the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are involved in this organization.

Mandatory Spring Sports Eligibility Parent Meeting Set For February 13th
The spring season sports eligibility parent meeting has been set for February 13th. All students planning on participating in a spring sport must attend this meeting with a parent. Eligibility paperwork turn in will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the high school commons with the meeting portion of the evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. All eligibility paperwork must be complete to be turned in. All students participating in a fall MSHSAA sponsored activity must have this completed prior to the first day on February 25th. It is recommended that all paperwork be turned in at the sports eligibility event on February 13th. To ensure participation on February 25th all fully complete paperwork must be turned in no later than Thursday, February 21st at noon. A link to all eligibility paperwork can be found below.
Upcoming Spring Impact Testing Dates Released
This past week Impact Testing dates were released for the upcoming spring season. Impact testing is required for baseball, girls lax, girls soccer, boys volleyball, & track (jumpers & pole vault). Freshman and Juniors in those sports need to complete testing prior to the first day of spring sports if they have not completed it previously this year. Students new to Howell must also complete the testing.

C Team Basketball Programs Finish Successful Seasons
Howell Alum Harper Named Culver Stockton Student-Athlete Of The Month
Congratulations to Howell alum Carly Harper on being named a Culver Stockton "Student-Athlete of the Month." Carly was named the Primo's Pizza and Subs Student Athlete of the Month for January.
Harper, a 5-foot-8 junior from Foristell, Mo. (Francis Howell HS), is a three-year starter for the women's basketball team. She has twice been named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference All-Conference team as an honorable mention selection. This season, Harper has played in 23 games, averaging 8.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, two assists and 1.3 steals per game.
In her career, Harper has started 80 of the 82 games she has appeared in. She has scored 752 career points (9.2 ppg), grabbed 445 rebounds (5.4 rpg) and dished out 182 assists (1.7 apg). In addition, she had drained 104 career 3-pointers, which ranks ninth on the school's all-time list. (www.cswildcats.com)
