Boosterthon is coming and we need your help!

Parents! This year’s main fundraiser is the Longbranch Fun Run! It’s a 9-day program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on September 19th, 2017. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on September 29th, 2017. With our big goal of raising $20,000 for our school, we asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it more profitable, easier, and fun.

Students will also experience an amazing character theme, CASTLE QUEST! an English castle theme all about being brave and living with character. On their quest to regain Bravemore Castle, students will learn the “SIX VIRTUES of a TRUE HERO” from a cast of colorful characters.

Donations will go toward supplies, books, and technology for our school AND to the entire 9-day experience. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors, be them family and friends, or local businesses that support our community. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support! We look forward to reaching our goal!

A.B. Combs Elementary: The first Leader in Me School

A.B. Combs Leadership Elementary in Wake County, North Carolina embodies a learning-centered model that strives for leadership development in its students based on Dr. Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It is the only magnet school to have earned the Dr. Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award twice – first in 2006 and then in 2014. The leadership model at A.B. Combs gained widespread recognition in 2008 through Dr. Covey’s book The Leader in Me, and since the program’s conception in 1999, it has been replicated in over 3000 schools around the world. A.B. Combs is now the first Legacy school in the Leader in Me Network meaning they have maintained the high standards for school transformation for 8 consecutive years.

Year eight will be the year of #LonghornsCAN. Our teachers are focusing on empowering instruction this year, giving students more control over their learning with strategic coaching, and raising the bar for every student at our school. Whenever you catch something fabulous showing the power of empowering students to lead their own learning, showing the habits at home, or showing the incredible impact the Longhorns have on our community, share it on social media with the hashtag #LonghornsCAN.
