Award Recipients
Shout out to W-S Foundation Grant recipients Lauren Schaefer and Heather Hahn, both of whom will be attending the National Social Studies Conference in Chicago next school year.
As mentioned in Volume 25, Heather Hahn was accepted into this summer's Supreme Court Institute.
And, Kris Dearmin found out over Spring Break that she was accepted to the Library of Congress Summer Institute.
Congratulations to all of you.

In case you missed it: Hamilton Education Program
The Gilder Lehrman Institute is proud to partner with Hamilton and The Rockefeller Foundation on the Hamilton Education Program. Title I high schools are being invited to see the musical and to integrate Alexander Hamilton and the Founding Era into classroom studies. The Hamilton Education Program is part of the Gilder Lehrman Institute’s broader mission to improve the teaching and learning of American history.
While the program, right now, is not open to our state, it may be for the 2018-2019 school year when the tour cities for the 2018–2019 school year are listed in June 2018. For more information check out their website.

For a lesson on Cold War policy, you could use this activity from SHEG.
For background on the rationale for a military buildup in the United States use some excerpts from the NCS- 68.
When looking at 1950s culture, you could access the the Duke Library had an advertisement repository which includes over 7,000 ads from 1911-1955.

I hope you had a great Spring Break. I spoke with several teachers today and the response was everything from "It was wonderful" to "I need another week." I hear you.
Are you ready for this... There is about 7 weeks left before we start testing. YES... SEVEN! AAAHHHH!
Keep this in mind when you think about pacing.
Now, take a deep breathe and realize.. Hey, 7 weeks until testing, which means Summer is almost here. See, doesn't it sound better that way?
