Principal News
We have had a great short week with our students. They are extremely resilient and continue their good work as students, learners, athletes, musicians, performers, technicians, bookworms, artists, collaborators, and friends.
There are still many opportunities for students to be involved at school and to continue to develop their niche. Athletics, performing arts, project-based programs, Technolgy Student Association, Family Career Community Leaders of America, Academic Team, etc. We are looking forward to launching Mustang Mania during Advisory in October. This opportunity will allow students to choose an area or class of interest to attend once a week for several weeks. Additional details on how you can support or donate to Mustang Mania courses will be coming soon.
We want to thank our PTO for their support with Spirit Wear, Staff Appreciation, Kona Ice, Spirit Nights, Pizza Day, Food Pantry, as wells as donating additional masks and gators for our students. We appreciate their involvement and support to make our school the best it can be.
Our district is needing to fill many employment opportunities. These positions are necessary for our schools to run efficiently. We need support staff, child nutrition, custodial, substitute teachers, substitute support staff, transportation, teacher assistants, etc. Please see our district website for details on how you can apply.
Thank you so much for supporting our school, staff, and families.

Helpful Reminders for COVID Exposure
Reminders:
It is extremely important to contact the school immediately when or if your child test positive or if you plan to quarantine your child based on family exposure. Time is important because contact tracing immediately begins once the school has been notified. Our communication to families includes an automated phone call as well as a detailed email regarding quarantine, etc.
Here are links to the district webpage regarding these updates and protocols-

If we should happen to call you to quarantine for your student - One of the items that you can provide is proof of COVID vaccination. If you are not vaccinated then you can provide a negative test result on or after day 5 post-exposure and be eligible to return on or after day 8 post-exposure if they continue to be symptom-free. We are not allowed to ask that question if you are vaccinated or not - but - should you provide the documentation - it does mean the difference between having to quarantine and simply monitoring the health of your student. The choice for disclosure of vaccination falls on the parent or guardian of the student. Remember - should you have any questions regarding COVID quarantine procedures or rules - please contact our Cheyenne COVID Captain - Mr. Link Lowe 405-726-5703

Students who are quarantined are able to complete work through courses on Canvas. Students should login each day to check the course agenda page and if they have questions they should reach out to their teachers. Scroll down to learn more about canvas. There are several links to assist.
Remember student COVID absences are for symptomatic students, diagnosed positive Covid isolations and exposure quarantines. When students are too ill and cannot complete work from home they will be coded as a COVID absence. We want students to rest and recover and makeup work when they feel better. All other quarantines that are not symptomatic or diagnosed positive should complete work online each day. Self-quarantines will need to be determined with our COVID administrator, Mr. Link Lowe.
We will keep you informed with the latest information regarding health and safety updates. Thank you to those families that have contacted us regarding their student and self-reported COVID exposures or positive test results. Our goal is to keep the education process moving forward for your student.

Student IDs
EVERY student has been issued a Student ID Badge. Per the District Policy, this MUST be worn EVERY day with the district-issued lanyard and the picture must face out. 6th graders are maroon, 7th grade green, and 8th grade blue.
If your student does not have their badge they will need to print a temporary badge for the day as they enter the school. We have three kiosks.
It is VERY important that the student remember their badge each and every day. A temporary badge should only be needed on a rare occasion not for everyday use.
If your student has lost their badge please have them come into the office with $5 to have a replacement badge made. After the third temporary badge students will serve lunch detention and on the 5th time alternative in-school placement for the day.
Please continue to remind your child to put their badge in the same spot every day so that they have it with them every day. AS they walk out the door or get into the car ask them these two things… Do you have your ID? Is your Chromebook charged?
Student IDs help us know who should be present on our campus, they are also used to check in and out of the office, to scan for lunch, and the library.
New District Dress Code Policy 8/2/21
The Edmond Public Schools Board of Education recently approved an update to the dress code policy. For reference - it is available by clicking here...
This policy is similar to the previous guidelines with some additional helpful diagrams and more guidance.
DROPPING OFF ITEMS (the cart will be ready very soon)
We ask that you check with your student before they walk out the door and make sure they are prepared for the day. This includes having their, Chromebook, ID and Lunch. If your student does forget their lunch or something they need for school, we have a cart in our front lobby with grade levels. This will be rolled back into the common area for the students to pick up their items during passing. Please drop off LUNCHES or SCHOOL SUPPLIES ONLY.
If you are dropping off an instrument or athletic equipment we will place this by the back office door for them to come up and get during their passing or after school. Please make arrangements with your student regarding these items and where to retrieve them.
Use the remind codes below to receive messages from our Parent Organization!
Student Chromebook Information
All students should CHARGE their Chromebooks each night. There are important updates that need to occur on these devices regularly and students will need to shut them down and restart.
All students received an email regarding their Annual Student Review. If they misplaced that email here are the instructions for completing the review before school starts.
Student Technology Protection Plan (STPP) - All families are strongly encouraged to purchase an STPP for their students to help protect them from large fees associated with accidental damage to the school-issued Chromebook. Search InTouch on the district website to purchase the 20-21 STPP. This plan goes into effect on 8/12.
