SCHOOL NUTRITION NEWSLETTER
message from the director
October is Farm to School Month. I am so very pleased Ashley and Rachel Pitt are working with Region Roots to bring farms to Central! I know I've learned about new things including the Indiana Banana and Ground Cherries. To celebrate apples and the Great Apple Crunch, Central will be featuring a new variety every day from Garwood Farms. Principal John Miller said, "Farm to School has been a wonderful addition to our school nutrition program here at Central. It has provided an opportunity for many of our students to try fruits and vegetables that they may not normally have the opportunity to try."
Tomorrow is also National Apple Day. Why not celebrate with this recipe from Amber Marrs. We were very willing taste testers when she brought in this Apple Cider Doughnut Cake for Susie's birthday. It is the perfect smell and taste of fall! Other apple ideas are at https://cias.wisc.edu/indiana-apple-crunch-resources/
With gratitude,
Kathy

Farm to School programs improve child nutrition, provide agricultural education opportunities, and help students establish a positive relationship with food.

While processing payroll this period, there were several issues that came up.
Timesheets were not filled out properly, times didn’t match and/or add up. Time off requests were not entered in True Time.
The start and end times on your timesheet should reflect when you start work and end work. If you work extra time, this should be reflected in your start and end times. Your regularly scheduled hours will be in the “Regular Hours” column on your timesheet, and the extra time will be listed in the “Extra Time Hours” column. The combined hours should equal the number of hours between your start and end times.
If you did not come to work, there will be NO beginning and ending times. You’ll enter the number of your regular work hours in the appropriate column for sick, personal, or other. If you have no paid time off remaining, you’ll enter a zero for the total hours.
ALL time off for sick and personal days MUST be entered in True Time. This can be done from any device including your phone. Your time off requests will automatically select Ashley Bowman for approval. At the bottom you’ll need to select Laura Tharp AND your direct supervisor to receive notification of your request. Click on “Select Employees” in the bottom section and another screen will open. Enter “Tharp” in the “Last Name” box and check the box to the left to select. Then click Save. Repeat this process to search for your supervisor and save. You should see both names listed in the large white box before saving.
Remember that entering time off in True Time does NOT replace notifying your supervisor when you need to call off sick.
