CLUBS of the week
Environmental Club
The Environmental Club at Fulton Science Academy will be participating in a special environmental program in conjunction with Crayola. Crayola Color Cycle is an amazing new program where used markers are turned into energy! As a group, the club members will collect used markers, highlighters, and dry erase markers from any brand and ship them to a facility where they will be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals, and more! To get this program started, we would like to create collection areas around the school. Please send in any shoeboxes that the Environmental Club can use for classroom collection areas. Shoeboxes can be delivered to Mrs. Ivarie’s office. Stay tuned for more details from FSAPS Environmental Club.

Drink in the 2017 / 2018 HYDRO DYNAMICSSM season and learn all about water - how we find, transport, use, or dispose of it. In the 2017 / 2018 FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge, FLL students grades, 3rd through 8th, have kicked off their brand new season last Saturday with a series of team building challenges and problem solving workshops to gear up the students for the new FLL project HydroDynamics.

Win a free month of smart lunches!
Order lunches now at www.smartlunches.com or view the September calendar menu below:
Food Allergies
- Bringing nuts to school is strongly discouraged. However, if a nut item will be brought to school, please notify your child's teacher in advance.
- A reserved table in the cafeteria is available for all students with food allergies. In particular no nuts are allowed in this area. This table will be wiped down separately from other cafeteria areas, too.
- Kid-friendly allergy signs will be posted to the outside right side of the classroom door to let visitors and substitute teachers know this is an allergy sensitive classroom.
- Any outside treats should not contain peanuts or peanut products due to the allergies of some students. A list of ingredients should be provided.
GRANDPARENTS DAY
At Fulton Science Academy, we know the important role grandparents play in our student's lives. As such, we like inviting our grandparents to come and enjoy a special day here at FSA, along with their grandchildren.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10
1 p.m. - Brief School Tour
1:20 p.m. - Luncheon
The purpose of this special program is three-fold:
- To honor grandparents;
- To give grandparents an opportunity to get more information about their grandchildren’s school; and
- To help children become aware of the strength, information and guidance older people can offer.
We encourage students, parents, and grandparents to come together to celebrate!
If you wish to attend our special Grandparents Gathering, please send an e-mail to Mrs. Condon at rcondon@fultonscienceacademy.org by Thursday, September 7, 2017, and let us know how many will attend from your family so that we can plan accordingly.
We hope to see you!
Welcome Back Picnics
We are organizing two, start-of-year picnics for our faculty and families to celebrate the beginning of an exciting new school year. As soon as the weather forecast shows a weekend without rain, we will announce the picnic dates.
- Saturday, TBD, Welcome Picnic Pre-K - 4th 6:00 pm- 7:30 pm
- Sunday, TBD, Welcome Picnic 5th- High School 6:00- 7:30 pm
Let's go to costa rica
Coming to Costa Rica is a great experience for students to practice their language skills and learn more about the Hispanic culture. Students are not required to have a vast knowledge of Spanish, since once there, they will take a placement exam that will group them with other students their same level.
Students must be sixth grade and up. If you are interested in knowing more abut this great trip, come and join us September 25th after school (4:30 pm) in room M5 where more information will be provided!
Our possible trip date is June 1st to the 9th, 2018.
Meanwhile, you can visit the following links to learn more about the program:

Character Ed Trait for August is Respect
If your child has a story that embodies the character trait of the month, please send it to Mrs. Cantrell and it may be displayed and shared as well.
Home Visits - A Fun Way to meet your teachers!
Home visits are a casual way for your child to spend time with his/her teacher in the comfort of their home. Teachers enjoy having a chance to see children in this comfortable environment, doing whatever makes them most happy and spend time with children and their parents outside of a regular school day.
Simply email junal@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Ms. Unal will be in touch to confirm final details.
