Inspiring Tomorrow's Innovators, Today!
October 17, 2021
Notes from our Director
Hello DATA community,
The Second nine weeks begins tomorrow! Students are reminded to communicate with their teachers, ask for assistance as needed, and stay on top of their assignments to avoid academic issues. Let's make a new commitment to start and finish this next nine weeks sTRong!
Thank you to all who came out to the Tail Gate Party and football game last night! A special thank you to our DATA and ETA Alliance volunteers for the food, games, and fun that were provided. It was fun to see current and future Riders come together for some spirited fun on such a beautiful fall evening. We will have to see which DATA class showed the most spirit and turned out for the events. More details coming soon on this topic.
In addition, we continue to be soooo proud of our DATA students and the many items they are involved in. Not only academically, but in extra curricular events, our DATA students are representing well. Included in this week's news are many photos of some of the DATA students in action. Thank you for continuing to represent the program well and exhibiting the core values of Perseverance, Integrity, Commitment, and Kindness. We are seeing our students exhibit these over and over again.
Freshmen parents and freshmen students are encouraged to join us for a TR Freshmen night in the TR cafeteria this Wednesday, October 20, from 5:45pm - 6:30pm. It is important to start planning for college and careers now. We encourage all to attend this meeting and gain important information regarding graduation requirements, attendance policy, how to earn credits, and details about our guidance program.
There are several recruiting events coming up for the magnet programs. We will be at Bush Middle School on October 25 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm sharing details about our program. If you have friends interested in joining the DATA program for this coming year or in future years, please encourage them to head out and see the possibilities available.
Please review the many details included below. If you have specific questions, please reach out so we can assist with those items. Have a wonderful week and please continue to stay safe.

Reminder - AP exam payment window opened October 7 and ends soon.
The payment window opened October 7. Students will access the “AP Exams Payment” link via their Skyward STUDENT Access (this link is only in Student Access, not Parent Access – we have asked for it to be accessible to parents, but this is currently not an available option) to either pay for their exam(s) or cancel their exam. Either way, students should access this link so they may indicate their testing choice. This link should be live for families from October 7 until November 3 for credit card payments. Should families opt to pay by cash, they may do so until November 10 with Mrs. Kaylyn Taylor in the Counseling office area/College and Career Center.
FAFSA and TASFA help for Seniors
We have FAFSA and TASFA help if anyone needs assistance completing these important college financial aid forms. Take a look below at the available days coming up:
October 26: during English IV classes throughout the day
November 9: from 5-8pm in the Molly Pruitt Library at TR with San Antonio College personnel on-hand to assist.
November 16: from 3:20-420pm in the College and Career Center.
Parents and students are also welcome to make appointments by emailing ktaylo3@neisd.net
Plus, we will be visiting the senior English classes in October to get the students started on their FSA IDs. Parents will also want to create the FSA ID for themselves before coming to one of these dates to make the process faster; it takes 3 days for the ID to get verified. Here are instructions on the FSA ID as well as the FAFSA if anyone would like to work on the FAFSA at home: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1x7S8Utahmq84kFnPeuofRvxe-WBa7lDdgOQggqDzQNw/edit?usp=sharing
If you have any questions regarding FAFSA, TASFA, or FSA IDs, please contact Kaylyn Taylor at ktaylo3@neisd.net
Students are encouraged to get a step ahead for college and career preparation. Check out the opportunities offered each Tuesday in the College and Career Center.
