Disease ID and Explanation of Imbalance

Osteoporosis is the most common type of bone disease. With osteoporosis, the bones, usually the wrist, hip, and spine, become rather thin and weak as they become more and more hollow. However, you are unable to feel your bones becoming thinner because osteoporosis is known as a "silent disease."

There are several symptoms to either osteoporosis or emergency osteoporosis. Common symptoms include fractures, back or neck, pain, loss of height, and a stooped posture. Symptoms involved with Emergency Osteoporosis is debilitating pain in the neck, back, wrist, or hip.

Treatments and Important Quote

Although Osteoporosis has no cure, there are several treatments to help control the symptoms. The treatments can include, but are not limited to, lots of calcium and Vitamin D, which are your milk and dairy products, a lot of exercise, and there are many different medications.

My important quote was: "Osteoporosis is often called the "silent disease." I chose this quote specifically because I wondered how they would find out that they had osteoporosis without hurting themselves majorly. http://umm.edu/programs/endocrinology/services/osteoporosis/silent-disease
